I was at Costco with my dad last Sunday, and as we were walking back to the car, there was a family walking into the store...

chances are, they had just come from church as they were all somewhat dressed up. Their daughter, I'd say no older than 8, was wearing a button up sweater over a tank top (it was about 70 degrees outside)...and asks her mom (in a really nice way...) "Mom, is it okay if I leave this unbottoned?"

The mom looks at the girl and says "Just shut up and button your f*cking buttons" in this like really oddly calm, but irritated voice... :yikes: :yikes:

I was just shocked speechless...my dad heard it too. We were just APPALLED.

The sad part was, neither the girl nor the father reacted... The girl looked a little hurt, but complied. The father didnt flinch... Both acted like there was NOTHING wrong with the mother's response... :(

Wow... that is really sad =/ I don't understand how people can talk to their children like that (or anyone, for that matter). I bet her mom likes to have control over her... that's how it sounds :(

I wouldn't be surprised if both mom and dad talk the same way in the household.
That is usually how it goes :( But not always.

I get annoyed with my kids......who doesn't?? But Yikes

I probably would have fallen to the ground in a faint if I had ever heard my mother use that kind of language..........either that or burst out laughing.

yeah, I have a feeling the mom has that control over that dad too...

I wish I could have said something to slap some sense into her...but you just know that pointing out the inappropriateness would most likely not change a thing....

i heard similar at quicktrip. A mother and three girls and she said something along the same f-ing lines and also said that was why she never took them into public. The girls were just being normal girls. THe mother on the other hand needs so training on how to be a good citizen let alone a good mother. Just too sad.

And then those parents wonder why their kids start using such language and behaving that way. Monkey See Monkey Do.

Maybe her mother is an abuser? Gosh, that is all I have known for the past 4 years. Poor girl though. :(
