I was thinking about getting neko a Invisible fence or a radio fance because I don't trust him, and I was thinking what dose an Invisible fence do to keep the dog in the yard because I don't like the shock collor and if it shock him I will keep him on the leash.

Yes it will shock your dog

I had a friend that had this equiptment and something went wrong and the dog was constantly shocked for about 24 hrs before the owner figured out what was happening. I would suggest perimeter training as a alternative.

It's also not a good idea for dogs with high prey-drive or long fur. I prefer a regular fence that is visible, personally.

My house came with an invisible fence, but I won't use it. I had a regular fence put up. What I don't like about them is that maybe your dog won't leave your property, but it doesn't stop strange dogs from coming onto your property. I don't want to risk my pets from getting injured from another dog entering my property. I'd rather have a regular fence and be safe than sorry. I actually like a regular fence for myself also so I know I won't be surprised by a stray if I'm in the yard.

We put an invisible fence up and I love it. They will get collars to put on and a high pitch sould will sound off about 6 feet from the actual shock line. They have been trained to step back go to a safe spot when they hear that sound before they get shocked.

Now, they sometimes go out without the collar on and still will not go past the line. They have gotten to know where the limits are. See, we were having a problem with our dogs following behind our daily walkers from the neighborhood and barking at them. They were'nt chasing them, just walking behind them barking their heads off all the way down the street. Needless to say, we were getting complaints. OMG I remember one morning, I had to run out of the house with my nightie and housecoat yelling at them down the street to 'COME" and apologizing to the unfortunate, now annoyed, neighbor. Thank god I remembered the housecoat. LOL Now, they basically know they aren't going nowhere and go outside to do their business and get right back in the house. They aren't outside very long. We just installed the fence in the fall, but when the nice weather comes back EVENTIALLY! ... lol ... they will hang outside with us sitting on the deck or the like. I never leave them out by themselves for a long period of time.

Everytime I let them out I always say "No Bark, Be Careful, Come Right Back' LOL the things we do!

If you decide on the invisible fence, you will definately have to get the company to provide training sessions with the dog or dogs. Mine got the gist of it quickly and like I said, sometimes I don't feel like getting the collars on and they still will not wander off.

Oh yeah, your probably looking at close to $1,000.00 for installation and training. Oh, and I'm paying 100.00 a year for both dog's batteries.

I wouldn't recommend the inv. fence. I've found that it only teaches dogs that they can "bust"through it w/ one shock.....then they're running free and they refuse to come back into the yard b/c they know they will be shocked.

I also don't like the idea of shocking my dogs. I think it's inhumane. I'd just put up a regular visible fence.

We have 2 dogs that live around the block from us. One does not go through the invisible fence; the other dog doesn't care that he gets shocked and at least once a week goes through. The people are now at a point that they know they need a fence.

Can't you build a run? Even a portable one? Is a fence not an option? I don't like the invisible fence idea but I haven't looked into it much.
