if you drink, can you hold your alcohol? I used to able to handle it quite well but after two glasses of wine last night with my dinner I was a mess. with, might I add, a terrible headache today :(

Wine kills me. One sip and I start feeling it. And I don't really like wine anymore unless it's a very expensive bottle. Most wine is just too acidic for me. I hardly drink at all unless I'm out on the town or at a party, which is seldom, so my tolerance is quite low. If I have anything to drink, it's usually a beer or maybe two. Three, and I start to get a real buzz. So, yeah...I'm a lightweight.

I no longer drink, but when I did, I was a lightweight, always was. I only cared for wine/white and red and some mixes. Was not a fan of beer or straight hard stuff or wine coolers, bleh.

In both hands usually :D

Errr... I dunno if I can hold it... But I'm British and we aren't exactly known for knowing our drinking limits... Suppose it's all relative. I don't drink till I'm sick anymore, which is a good start :D

I can pound them down as long as I don't mix my alcohol, if I start out with beer, I stick with beer, if it's margarita's or any other mixed drink, I stay with the same all night. I drink more in the summer than any other season, I have more cook-outs and pool parties, in the winter I hybernate more. I do meet my dh at least once a week after work for appetizers and margarita's though.
When I go to a bar with a bunch of people, I always refuse to do shots, those just push me over the edge. I know my limit and I haven't gone over that limit in years.

Usually. The other night was a interesting night with the girls. At least I was not the one that had "Food Poisoning" the next day. LOL

Depends on how you define holding. I've never passed out before, but I've blacked out twice. Once was the first time I ever drank, downed 7 shots of rum and that was the last I remember of that. The second time I had been drinking since 10 AM that morning until about 1 that night (the last time I remember) and hadn't had anything to eat except a few chips in the mean time (not by choice, we just never went anywhere with actual food), and I blacked out somewhere around 1 AM, but according to sources I wasn't passed out, just sitting on the couch staring at people lol.

I can, depending on what exactly I'm drinking. Tequila? Forget it. I can't even smell it anymore.

Jaeger, I had about 7 doubles and red bull one night. I should have stopped at six :p

I try not to drink until I puke. In fact, I try to drink just enough to feel relaxed and then I stop drinking, because if it's beer, it can affect me for a long time.

For a tiny girl, I can handle alcohol pretty well so long as I've eaten or eat at some point while drinking. I've never been a party girl, and I've only been drunk a handful of times... but I can take a lot of shots of vodka with the big boys, and don't get hung over.

I'm small and asian. I am automatically at a disadvantage :p

I actually do have a pretty reasonable alcohol tolerance. I start feeling it only after maybe 5 beers.

Yup. Esp. if I have eaten (alot) beforhand. I think last years carnival proves my drinking abilities... :p Friend & I each had 10 fig vodkas (they're pretty popular here and sold in small bottles), 5 tequila shots, wine, sparkeling wine and I think 2 cocktails - in a time span of about 3 hours. Neither blacked out - so I guess I can hold my booze pretty well.

I can pretty well. I have blacked out twice though, but I was still up and talking and whatnot, I just can't remember anything, lol. It's a really strange feeling.

The only thing that really gets to me is really carbonated beers, or carbonated mixers. I'm usually fine, but if I drink something carbonated too fast it takes a whole for my stomach to settle.

I actually have no idea what my limit is because I've never desired to test it. Drinking until you puke just doesn't sound like fun. Usually I have 1-3 and I'm fine with that. For one thing, I can't afford much more than that. =P For another, I don't really have much opportunity. I don't drink and drive - if I'm out somewhere and know I have to drive back home, I'll only get one drink early on and only if I know I'm going to be there for a few hours. So that limits a lot of my drinking opportunities since I'm almost always the one driving.

Though over Labor Day I ended up drinking a lot... we were basically tailgating the agility trial, I started early, and then I kept drinking at dinner having forgotten I had been drinking that afternoon too... whoops! I've also drank way more than I intended to a few other times. Usually it's when shots are involved because I don't keep track of shots for some stupid reason. We did a Vegas theme for our work holiday party a few years back and I honestly cannot tell you how many shots I threw back. I was a bit busy playing poker and the shots kept coming and we were all like WHOOOOO and it just kept going. And we were drinking on top of the shots too, soooo, yeah. Yikes. (Now that I think of it, that was the evening before an agility fun run the next morning... I woke up early, went and ran my dog, then went to the doctor because I was hacking up mouthfuls of green mucus and lost my voice, and we discovered I had bronchitis! I don't know why I do these things to myself.)

So I think my tolerance is surprisingly high because never once have I blacked out, puked, been hung over, none of that, even though I know I've drank way more than I intended. But I dunno and probably will never find out where the line is when I cross into "wasted" territory.

yes. I really have never noticed issues with mixing alcohol either.

definitely need food in my tummy though if I'm going to be having more than one. I tend to feel the first 2 a lot...and things progress slower from there. I really don't drink that much anymore though.

I think my record was 12 shots of straight vodka and didn't even really feel it. Looking back, yes, I was definitely drunk. But it was my first time, so I just didn't realize it at the time.

I once played Vodka Pong and when my rooommate stopped taking shots I took shots for her  That night ended with a "FAIL" sticker on her car and a sprained ankle for me, as well as a bike in the living room that Gavroche absolutely LOVED jumping over lol.

The last time I got drunk I drank primarily fruit punch vodka. It was awful. I also gave plasma earlier that day and didn't even think about it. That was the only time I vomited after drinking.

I've never had a hangover. It's been over a year since I actually got drunk, and last time I had a drink at all was New Year save for a wine cooler a few months ago...oh and a glass of wine with the person I'm dogsitting for a couple weeks ago, forgot about that. But I'm not supposed to drink with the medication I'm on now, anyway.

I'm not a fan of beer, or realy wine either. Wine coolers are great, but otherwise I'm definitely a hard liquor person. Straight vodka, rum and coke, whiskey sours, NOM. I don't like straight rum though.

It takes a while for it to hit me, but when it hits it hits. Bad thing is I'm usually on about shot #6 before I feel anything, and then it all catches up.
