I hoping that some of you own these breeds and you can tell me personally about them. I’m a single mom and my son is 11. We currently have a German Shepherd who is almost 6 and a Golden Retriever who will be 4 on Christmas.

I know that it’s going to be a while before we get another dog but I have some breeds in mind and haven’t been thrilled with what I’ve been able to find out about them online. People think that the dogs I already have are large breed (to me they’re medium), wait until they see our future dogs. We’d like to have even larger dogs going forward.

Here are some dogs that I love the look of, but haven’t been able to find out a lot more about, each internet site says something different and don’t agree with each other. If you own or have owned one of these breeds, can you please tell me about your dog? Did you prefer male or female? How are they with other dogs? With kids? With living in a house (most are working dogs)? Temperament? Shedding?

Anything would be helpful!!!

I don't own any of these breeds, but plan to some day.

What I do know is, that most of the breeds you named would be a considered a Giant breed. And (except the Komondor, I don't know that much about that breed) these breeds are considered Gentle Giants. :) From what I know, they are all great with kids and do well in house setting.

There are some great, Dane owners here so I hope they see this thread.

OK, I have a 4 month old Great Pyr puppy. She is hilarious and a handful. She is very playful, very good with kids, and drives other dogs nuts because she wants to play all the time. She does shed alot but we brush her routinely and that is not a problem. She was very easy to potty train, and is very smart. she does like to chew on everything, barks alot and it a notorious digger when outside. None of this is an issue because we monitor her activities. We are crazy about her. I have a 1 1\2 year old who she is very gentle wilth. PM me for any other questions.
