I ALWAYS feel lucky to have my dogs, but I'm feeling particularly lucky and proud of them as of lately, for no real reason other then the fact that they're MINE.

As most of you know, we just recently adopted a Blue Heeler, Marlin, and if you don't know, well, you do know :D This was a big change for Charlotte, who is use to having us all to herself and is real picky about who her dog friends are. I'm extremely proud of her for accepting him so quickly and allowing him to share her space with little to no fuss. The very few and rare occurrences where there has been tension, I'm proud of her for backing off and avoiding conflict without me even having to say anything.

I'm proud of Marlin for being so gentle and respectful of Charlotte, and treating her like the queen she thinks she is. I think it's really good for her head. I think part of her issue with other dogs is a fear issue, and I think having Marlin around, who has become protective of her, has made her feel more comfortable over all. You can see the change in her. She's soo much happier and at ease with the world. I'm proud of how well they communicate with each other. They do it better then a lot of people I know.

I'm proud of Marlin and how quickly he adapted to us and came to trust us. I know he's extremely loyal to his old owner and his first night here was very, very difficult for him. I'm proud of how well his listens to us when we ask him to do something.

This living arrangement is exactly how I had hoped it would turn out, and I couldn't possibly be happier. I feel like the luckiest person alive to have these two dogs! :D

Oh and Marlin has the greatest smile <3

Well done, Charlotte and Marlin! Plenty of people---and countries, for that matter!---could learn a lesson from these dogs.
