Can dogs take human's vitamin tab?

I was wondering dog's taking human's vitamin tablets because i've seen some many people talking about vitamins, and just came up to my mind. This would help me and some of the people reading this forums. If they can, what are recommend vitamin pills shoudl they take. Suggestions would also be nice . Thanks all

Vitamins ain't gonna help anyone from L.A., lololololol!!!!! Just kidding of course. There is a book by a vet named Belfield, entitled How To Have A Heathier Dog. You can get it from Amazon. Well worth it.

In general tho, the two most beneficial vitamins for dogs are C and E (hhmmm, just happens to be my initials too!! How 'bout that!) At least 500mgs per day per dog. If your dog's poop gets mushy, cut back on the amount of C. For E, 200 IU (international units) is the mantainance dose.

For puppies of the larger breeds, 500 mgs twice a day is beneficial. For theraputic dosages of C as many as 35,000mgs a day have been given I.V.

And yes, dogs can take people vitamins. A vitamin is a vitamin is a vitamin. The doses may vary, and dogs do not need supplementation with the same vitamins as people.

you can give some human grade supplements, but not all of them are suitable. for example multivitamin/mineral tablets formulated for adult humans should not be given.

single-type supplements are fine tho, and generally of better quality than what is sold for pet use, since they are subject to much stricter regulations.

what to supplement depends very much on what you are feeding your dog and his/her body weight, since certain vitamins can cause toxicity if given in too large amounts.

any suggested brands out there?? I have vitamins from this company call "usana", but i dont know if it is suitable for my dog.

i buy a lot of NOW brand stuff, it's reasonably priced and of good quality. they offer many things in powdered or liquid forms, which makes it easier to dose more precisely than using capsules, especially in smaller dogs.

i have been using trader joe's multivitamin for dogs. they are also making dog foods. is anyone using their brands? what have your experience been like?

Usana nutritional supplements

Hi, I wholly believe in USANA, as they were #1 in over 1500 supplements tested that are in the US and Canada. But, with dogs having sensitivities and death with some of our foods (chocolate, onions, garlic, raisins, grapes, etc), I'm concerned how they will be with long term use. There really aren't vitamins that are as good as USANA but I recommend checking with a Veterinary research university first. I know many people who give human vitamins to dogs.
