I feel like this was the first camping weekend of the year! And it was awesome!
I mean, we've camped ever since the campgrounds opened, but this is the first time that camping was undisturbed - I didn't have to leave to go to any birthday or grad parties, no babysitting, family reunions, etc
Missy and Maddie were very well behaved. My only complaint is their barking at dogs that were let offleash (illegally) right in front of our site, in the field. Maddie has been camping with my family and myself since she was a puppy, so she's an old pro. Missy was a little anxious when we first got there. She's not used to being tied out (our yard is fenced so she's used to that, walking beside me, or being offleash) so she paced and was whiny/vocal for a while, but she settled down after a while.
This is Missy's first experience with my tent. Once I get it set up she seemed to know it was "home" and laid by it, and was comfortable in it.
We went on a lot of hikes, both on marked trails and unmarked trails. Maddie stuck her whole front-end in a fox whole one time - all you could see was her stub tail wiggling when I called her out!
Missy didn't eat as well as I'd hoped for. I guess she wasn't very relaxed as I had hoped, but we'll work on it.
Our site was the closest one to a shelter that they campground occasionally rents out to people. It was empty all weekend, but that's the building you'll see in the pics. The lot faces a huge, open field, and that's about it. Can't see anyone else until you walk down the gravel road for a couple of minutes . . .
