Does anyone know how to burn DVD's? I have the right disks to do it but I can't figure out which program to go into and everything. I have Windows XP, if you need to know.

I can't exactly help you yet. I'm getting a computer in 2 weeks that has a dvd burner in it with light scribe. Yes! So your computer already has program to burn dvd's or are you asking which program to get because you want to upgrade? They cost about $80 to for the actual dvd burner and $40 to have it installed. Or where you asking what disks to buy to burn dvds? Just go to circuit city, comp usa, or best buy and ask them for blank dvd disks to burn dvds off or your computer.

well our computer already came with a dvd burner part in it. I already have the correct disks. I didn't know you need a program, our computer burned CD's since we got it so yeah maybe we need software. I know my husband's boss has some software to break down the codes that are on the DVD's you get so that you can burn them so we'll have to get that and download it.

It depends on what type of DVD's you want to burn off. If you want to burn off store bought DVD's then i will tell you right now that your computer will not do it unless you get a different DVD burner program.

what program would you suggest? We know someone who has one to break down the codes that are on DVD's so that you can burn them, is that what we are looking for or would we need a seperate program. I'm confused:confused: , but that's not too hard to do:D .

The program that I have is DVD X Copy, but you are not going to find it anywhere because it has been banned by the government, but is legal to use if you already have it. I don't know anynames of other programs but I know they cost alot. If you go out looking for one read everything on the box. What you are looking for is something saying that it is a DVD Backup program and make sure that it does not have a thing on it saying that the program will not burn copyrighted DVD's.

We bought the DVD X copy and it did not work at all.

http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html

but you need a decryptor to use it

that is the part that has been yanked off the market. The DVD companies sued and the big sellers lost so you cannot get it unless you find a pirated version somewhere.

Let me guess when you try to burn them it says something like this DVD is CSS encypted. That is to prevent people from copying them. That is where the decryptor is needed to break that code and it is no longer available. The only way to get it is to ask a friend or co worker who already has it [pirated version]. You cannot buy it because the law suit was lost and the companies cannot sell them anymore. Any program you buy that says DVD burning will only burn stuff like home made movies they will not burn the encrypted things because they cannot sell them anymore. I am sorry to say but I do not think there is any program to buy that will do what you want.

Crap! Then what is the point or getting a computer with a dvd burner if you can't burn dvds?

The only legal burnable DVD's now are like home made movies, you know ones you do with a video camera, those you can copy. But to go and rent or buy a DVD movie and copy it you cannot buy the software to do that. It is illegal to sell the software now. The only way to get it is to ask a friend that already has it or somehow get your hands on a pirated version. That is the only way! Plus do not get caught because it is illegal.

You cna legal copy the movies for back ups for yourself but that is it. So they do not sell them anymore. I got mine just before the ban went through so if it ever fails I am screwed. I use Shrink it and the Shrink it decrypter, mine is not a pirated verision it was down loaded off the website just before the ban. Shrink it is always free so try it but it will not work for those kind of DVD's.

No I can't even find what program we would need to get into on our computer to burn a dvd. I can burn cd's but no dvd's. I'm really starting to become computer illiterit I guess. We know someone who has a decryptor program that he loans out to people so maybe we will have to get that and download that, but now I'll have to find a program so that i can actually download dvd's too then. This is a mess now.

Nope you are not computer illeteriate. You can easily download to the computer hard drive but when you put your dvd in and say burn it will come up and say css encrypted.

Cd's are not part of the ban yet. Yet being the main word there.

Julie you will not be able to do it so just do not worry about it.

PSSTT I emailed you again today and still got the same message!

Early on they tried to ban the software for CD burning, quess what it is legal, at least in the US. If you are making back up copies for yourself DVD burning should fall under the same legality as CDs.

What I do is I download the movie off of limewire and then just transfer it to a dvd. Or download that program (dvd x is it called?) and just use it.

How serious are you about burning ANY DVD juliefurry?
Well I would really like to be able to burn DVD's from this computer. I mean it has the capability and we do have people asking us to burn this movie or that movie for them so I would really like to be able to.
