ive never had anyone tell me of a problem with bully sticks, most people who dont like rawhides switch to bullies and dogs LOVE them.
I guess its the same as anythign, make sure he cews properly and when its too small that he can swallow it whole remove it (carefully, keep your hands intact lol)

I went to several pet places for one and the only place I found one that was something like 6 feet long was petsmart but it was very thin and 17$ is that possible?

I got Tosca one of those 12 inch braided ones. It's three sticks intertwined and they last longer. She chewed on it for hours and hours and hours, but alas, it has disappeared. I suspect Mojo has put it somewhere. lol.

After Tosca's rawhide fiasco I checked out bully sticks and there is more than one type. If you buy the soft chew type a bigger dog will gobble it up. That's why they sell the braided ones. It gives them more of a chew challenge.

Sorry for my fragmented posts, but to be honest with you, you can get marrow bones really cheap from a butcher and your dog will work on it till the cows come home, scuse the pun. After the dog is done cleaning it up, you can smear some peanut butter in it for another round.

YOOPY Ginger likes her bully bone she's going to town with it. I bought her 2 packs that have 2 in each one pack is 2 10" and the other pack is 2 of 12" so she has time to go through them I only paid 12$ for both packs at Pet Value

Well this one did. Wherever it is. lol.
Ooops. I didn't mean "amazed" like I didn't believe you - just surprised! Meg's not a very aggressive chewer, so I couldn't figure out how she ate them so much faster than other dogs. Good to know about the different levels of hardness - I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the stronger ones.

These are Meg's favorites! She gets one every Saturday at work (On weekdays, there are a lot of other dogs around). After a couple hours of working on it, she'll wander away and the barn's border collie takes them and hides them. We are certain he's trying to build his own cow:D . I just can't get over my issues with having the raw bones in the house. She gets the bully stick rarely, but I'm always looking for other good chew stuff.

Yes I was skittish about raw bones too. I was all worried about bacteria too. I talked to Tosca's breeder and she eased my mind about it. I admit though that she is now relegated to certain spots where she can maul them. In fact my latest blog post is about it. It's either outside, back porch or crate. She gets to pick. I know a butcher so I can get them fresh. They are also a lot less expensive than bully braids. But I admit that I take them away from her and don't leave them overnight without...don't laugh, running hot water over them and getting rid of the marrow part she couldn't reach. I kind of sterilize them with really hot water for a minute. Then I stick stuff in them for her. It got her over her rawhide fetish, thank heavens.

Bully sticks do stink. I so far see no problem with the marrow bones at all in terms of odor but then I am a meat eater. They are supposed to have some small remnants of meat on them.

Boston here's your answer to marrow bones in the house. Actually she goes there with it herself so Mojo will leave the bone alone. lol. He tries to eat off it with her and makes her crazy.
