bully sticks and shelties?

Are the bully sticks good for shetland sheepdogs? I know they can have sensitive issues with their stomachs and rawhides aren't good for them (or any dog) but he doesn't really seem to care for raw bones or any bones I picked up at the store (except rawhides ). He absolutely LOVES bully sticks though he's been working on a 12 inch stick for about two days now and I have never seen him so intense about finishing something...except the time he got our wooden spoon and it took us half an hour to realize he was eating a wooden spoon and not a bone (yes we are idiots ). I was just wondering if they are good for shelties to eat, and if they are ok for them do they clean their teeth like a raw bone or not.

If he hasn't had trouble with it yet I'd say he is okay with it. My Papillon is really sensitive to rawhide too, but he loves bully sticks. (Disgusting as they are, they entertain him and are safer, for the most part, than things like greenies and rawhide) The only thing I really noticed with the bully sticks is that they seem to be salty? After Ripley chews on one he always wants a good long drink.

And nothing, IMO, will clean teeth like a raw bone.

I feel the same way but he doesn't act interested in the raw bones anymore (goofy dog ). We are trying to brush his teeth but he is still growling at us for doing that and we don't get them done too well. His teeth have quite a bit of plaque and tarter built up on them from the food he was fed before us. I would rather not have him go to the vet for getting his teeth cleaned but we may have to. I'm hoping his teeth will get better on their own though and we won't have to get them done professionally they cost a lot at my vets to get it done.
