I've recently got a huge ineterst in this breed. I love how powerful they look, and they look athletic despite being a giant breed.

Can I get some info on them pweeze?

Maturity levels, differences between males and females, excercise requirements, tolerance of other animals, cuddliness.

I read a bit about their origin, how much of that original attitude shows up in todays show/pet lines?
I don't know if I'd be interested in showing but I'd probably be heading towards those lines even if there are working lines still around.

I didnt have a full breed Mastiff, but I can tell you he was one of the best dogs I ever had to pleasure of befriending. Marlowe, was a combination of a few different dogs. A Bull Mastiff, A Rottie, A Saint Bernard, and a German Shepherd. The neighborhood kids called him the big teddy bear.

I know its probably not the answer you were looking for, but I have to say, I have yet to meet another dog like him. (Even though Zane kinda reminds me of him with certain habits he has.) I didnt have to train him. Its like me knew what I asked of him. Like it was total respect. His attitude and disposition was awesome. He was great around kids, other dogs, and basically all around friendly. Okay, almost everyone, he didnt like the Ice Cream man coming around in his truck. My guess its because he couldnt protect the neighborhood kids from going over to him.

They are one of my top fave mastiff breeds. especially the rich red ones. Their looks alone are fascinating. One of the most powerful dog breeds ever created.

The one I met had a horrible skin problem. His back was gooey, crispy, and bleeding. Poor dog. He would roam the neighborhood every once in awhile. If we had our door open, he would welcome himself right in, like he lives there and then greet everyone. Very confident in himself. Very laid back dog.

I once seen a female doberman challenge him. He made an eery deep rumble of a growl jumped forward and the dobie slowly took a step backwards... he then walked off after making his point. I was scared shitless. It took quite a bit for him to get pissed off. He doesn't get upset for nothing. Its like he would rather save his energy for other things.
