I just saw a commercial for the build-a-bear workshop store that was advertising their knew Malti-poos. It says be the first to build one. Will this designer dog thing ever go away?

I walked by Build-a-Bear in the mall last week, and I had to do a double take. There was a white stuffed dog, and a sign that said "Introducing Malti-Poo!"

Which made me wonder... why couldn't they have just made "poodle" or "maltese."? I mean, it just looked like a fluffy white dog stuffed animal.

My mother-in-law was over for breakfast last week and asked if I had seen the story on the Portland news about 35 Goldendoodles and Labradoodles being surrendered by an owner because she wasn't able to care for them. She commented on how cute they were. I had to educate her on designer dogs. I'm not sure if she got it or not.

I think they do have poodles.

My mom's friend bought a Yorkie-poo from a petstore last summer for some insane amount ($1500'ish). My mom didn't see any harm in it... except in the price tag.

I love Build-a-bear...I usually get one w/ my nieces and nephew when they go :) As far as the Maltipoo goes, most people dont understand, so Im not going to hold it against them. People who are going to buy one should educate themselves, but a stuffed one? Who cares.

And I do get that it could "encourage" people buying real ones, but people buy stuffed sharks and elephants, and dont buy one :)
