At first I thought my dog Buddie hated puppies, lately I been seeing a pattern that disproved my guess. It's the puppies that are nipping, or jumping at him, or charging/pulling on there lead towards him, My dog would just growl or move his head away or whatever. Is this normal? Is there an underline problem? How your dogs with young pups? I dont think you can train your dog to like stuff like that? Its not much of a problem for me, I'd be bothered too. lol. I was just thinking about puppies, so I made this post, since it reguards my dog, plus this wonderful forum is all about our k9 fur babies. ^-^ I just thought of something, he is on lead when it happens.

maybe he doesn't feel free enough to play, and after a while he me start to get annoyed by the constant playing of the puppies.

The puppies are being rude and Buddie is letting them know that. Add to that he knows he can't get away because of the leash and he feels uncomfortable. You help him out by stepping between the pups and your dog before they reach him, so he doesn't feel the need to get defensive.

My dog has no tolerance for rude puppies and is quick to put them in their place. Then he'll play with them after they've learned not jump on his face.
