Silly question, but can a toothpaste such as colgate be used to brush a small adult dogs' teeth?

No harmful artificial-type sweeteners in toothpaste that can be harmful?

Well we spit tooth paste out. I understand it to be poisonous if swallowed in larger amounts. I really don't recommend it because dogs won't spit and rinse.
They sell brands at pet smart that are dog safe.

No, The stuff they use in human toothpaste will make your dog throw up if he swallows too much and dogs don't rinse and spit like people. They sell a lot of good dog toothpastes that are flavored like chicken and beef, you may have to look around before you find one your dog likes.

Aussie and Max are right..........but there might be tooth paste used for small children that would work too..........I am not sure, but I think we had it when our youngest son was very small and learning to do it on his own. Obviously little kids won't rinse and spit as well as they should either :)

And YES, artifitial sweeteners ARE harmful to your dogs...........or so I have read.

I may look into that myself, as I find it harder and harder to trust anything made specifically for pet ingestion, LOL

no reason why you should use human toothpastes on your dog when dog safe toothpastes are easily available in the market. why take a chance using colgate coz there's no way u can make your dog spit it out

I definitely wouldn't use it; I would much rather use a dog toothpaste. For my dogs I use an enzymatic toothpaste that is safe and much better tasting for them.
