i went to kick the football n he grabbed my leg n then went for the ball.
he badly grazed my leg but didnt break the skin.

i didnt have time for a correction or to even cry out so i immediatly stop playing n left him alone in the garden.

did he mean anything by it or was it just innercent accident.

it ruddy hurt is all i can say.

how can i stop this from happening again

ouch. been there, done that. accidents are part of life. if you're moving and the dog's mouth is moving... sometimes they connect and it's totally unintentional. i usually cry out and then stop the game immediately.

Ack! Yes, I got the deathgrip in place of a soccer ball once. :(

I know the dog doesn't mean to do it, but I end the game immediately if teeth come in contact with my skin. Over time they become quite conscious of where you are.

if the dog breaks the skin is that really bad?

my puppy sometimes bites a little too hard and i can feel the teeth sink in and when i try to make him let go it grazes my skin off and i bleed a few seconds after it is out of his mouth

we took mac ad buster down to a paddock for a run the other night. they were chasing a ball, it was on the ground and i saw my sister bend down to pick it up, her arm straight down, then 2 dogs fly in from opposite directions to grab the ball.
They didn't mark her but she didn't get the ball and her arm was pretty sore from being slapped in 2 different directs at once. lol

Buster has hurt me a couple of times on my arms when i;m playing with a ball with him. But i think i deserve to be bitten on the leg properly by him, once i was playing with him and went to kick a ball just as he went to grab it, poor guy, kicked him fair in his face :( he looked so sad, i felt awful. So it goes both ways, i wouldn't read into it as agressive.

I end the game as soon as i get hurt though, he gets the picture pretty quick but if i'm playing with more than 1 dog at a time they can get distracted

I wouldn't even correct for something like that, it was a complete accident. Your dog is in high prey drive to get the ball, you shouldn't correct him or stop playing because you made a mistake. Just be more careful! I told this before, but when Gunnar was about 9 months old, we were playing with a football. I went to punt it, and he went for the ball. His tooth went right through my shoe and poked a hole in my foot as I kicked him in the head with full force. It didn't even phase him, he chased the ball and brought it back as I was on the ground writhing in pain. I learned, no more punting when he's close!
