I was pushed down my last three steps on my porch last night and broke my toe. Its my baby toe and it is definatly broken I mean its BROKEN. My mom says its not a big deal and all they'll do at the hospital is put a cast on it. This I know im not stupid but it does hurt. My question would be do you think it will heal ok with out a cast? And if there any other way other then aspirin and ice to make the pain go away. I went to school and hobbled around but it was ok I mean I am good at walking through the pain. Im just wondering if it is ok to do? My brother broke his hand 4 years ago and his hand healed ok but his once broken finger sits up a bit higher then his other fingers when he lays his hand flat. I don't limp too bad I just walk funny because im walking on the side of my foot or I keep my injured toe from touching the ground.

Tape the little toe to the next toe, or if it's too short, tape it to the foot. Doctors won't usually cast a toe at all, all they'll do is tape it and it'll be cheaper to tape it yourself. I've got a nice one, healed up well but is shorter than the same toe on the other foot......toes heal pretty smoothly unless you shattered the bone. Anyway, give it a couple weeks and it should be ok. Good luck.
PS (I'm assuming it's your mom because of your other thread, but if I'm wrong, sorry.) It's not okay for you to just "deal" with your mom pushing you down the stairs, because you feel sorry for her or think she needs you. You should think about yourself and the long term impacts to your confidence and all that.....I hope when you talk about going to cooking school it's in the VERY near future. Good luck.

I too agree. The doctors will not put a cast on a toes, and certainly not the little toe. I've broke both of mine through the years (from banging on chair legs and the like) and actually they look better than they did before. Just use some tape (the kind you find in first aid kits) and tape it to the next one to keep it in place. It will be sore but try to keep pressure off of it.

It actually wasent my mom who pushed me it was my brother inlaw. He is a fellow person who likes to use me as a punching bag. I was walking down the stairs in front of him and he decided he would push me the rest of the way and I fell and felt the snap and screamed. He just kept on walking to the car. He's already in it deep with the cops because of things he has done to my sister.
