He is very, very HAPPY but he is also very nervous and jumpy. The first thing he did was go out and greet all of the dogs (it was to cute) then he ran upstairs to his bed and checked it out. He loves his bed more than anything no other dogs are allowed on it.:D

The vets have him on Flagyl 500mg twice daily for 7 days and sucralfate twice daily for 10 days. He said I have to wrap the Flagyl up in ham or something and put it down his throat because the taste is so awful it can't touch his tongue. I am not sure how to go about this because the pill is pretty big.

He is giving the Flagyl in case there is any infection. He also has to eat yogurt everyday for the live cultures so he said it was okay to make the frosty paws recipe and freeze it. So he will have his frozen yogurt everyday:D he will LOVE that.

He is definitely not himself I hope in a few days he gets to feeling better and won't be so nervous. Oh and the GRAND TOTAL of the BONE FROM HELL is.........................................................................................

$1038.10 about what I expected. I was hoping that it would not be much over $1000. The only thing that really sucks is there goes Brodys credit card and if something else GOD FORBID would happen we could be up the creek. I will let you all know tomorrow how the pill taking goes.:yikes:

Wow. Welcome home Brody bud!

(I still stand by what I said earlier and would be happy to toss a few bucks your way...)

That is SO NICE but it is not necessary. I will just make the minimum payments. The ONLY way I would ever ask for money is if I was in dire need for one of the dogs and I had absolutely no way to pay it. I will tell you I actually got this credit card like two weeks ago because of the Reggin thread on the health section. Her moms dog was sick and they did not have the money to bring her to the vet. People were suggesting that everyone should have a back up plan so I applied and got approved for $1000 Funny how things work out, just the amount I ended up needing.:p Thank You for the offer though that is very nice of you.

Yay, Brody!

For the pills, if the vet suggests wrapping it to hide the taste (I assume this to mean that the dog won't chew it either?), I suggest placing the pill at the very back of the throat, wrapped in whatever (a piece of cheese, meat, etc) and guiding it down by closing the dogs mouth. Hm, that's hard to type. In my mind I can see it perfectly as Buddy has had tons of pills before, but typing is a different story! Hmm, if that didn't make sense, I can elaborate. :)

pill taking

i used to hide the pills in a marshmellow. My dogs always thought those were the best, never knew there was medicine hiding in that marshmellow.
While sugar isn't the best for them, i figured for a few days it would not hurt them.

Well he ended up taking the pills with no problem!:) I am giving him yogurt mixed with peanut butter, honey, bananna, and water then I freeze it. It is a recipe that was posted on here and he loves it. I freeze it in 6 ounce cups and I think I will give him one in the morning and one at night. Do you think that is to much? How long should he get the yogurt?
