But are glad you didnt?

Before I got Walker I was on the list for a Canaan puppy. I had researched, been around them, did all the normal stuff and decided they were the dog for me. A few months after getting Patches I went to see a show where there were some to help the handler with showing one. At that point I told her I was glad I didnt get one they are not my type of dog.

Have you had that same experience?

I ALMOST got an Olde English Bulldogge puppy. I'm glad I didn't because it wasn't a Leavitt Bulldogge. And if I'm going to EVER go the OEB route, I'd get a Leavitt Bulldogge.

I almost got a mini aussie pup shortly after Kiba got home. Had it all planned out, okayed by mum, but then just didint happened. That was before I was as dog savvy as I am now, to which that same breeder just had her puppymill busted this summer by the AC :yikes:

But everything else has just been in the thought process, not even close to purchasing one. I still want a mini aussie one day...

I knew I wanted a CKC recognized breed because I wanted to show. I had looked into a Leonberger, another Sheltie, Malinois, I really liked the Dutch Shepherd but they aren't a CKC recognized breed.

It all came down to a Terv. I liked their brains, overall appearance as an older dog(never base your opinion on how cute the puppy is.. it WILL grow up), I wanted a medium-long coat since I love grooming and I wanted something that had some edge to it. I LOVE the Tervs personalities. It was a perfect match for me.

I almost got a show Great Dane pup. I still would love One but need to work on my Boxers before I get into a 3rd breed. Until then I will just oogle over my friends hard work in her Danes.

I almost got a rott right before I got byron. Glad I didn't because I have now found my true love the dobe! Right when we moved we had looked into malamutes and almost got one.I can't imagine the hair when its this bad with my husky! My grandparents actually bought us a shar pei puppy they ended up keeping since I had decided I wanted a husky. I kick myself for it daily though because I love that pei! But then again I love my tawny:p

When I was younger we looked into a bunch of different breeds. We looked at bichons, schiperkees(sp) and wire hair terriers. We ended up getting mutts from the pound though:p I don't think terriers and in general most little dogs, are my thing.

And every time I think about getting a dog I think of labs still in the back of my head. I know I will always have a dobe but I am seriously considering getting a lab into the mix again eventually. After my labs died when I was little I just could not look at another one without bawling or we would have gotten another one then.

We were on a list to get a toller pup. But the bitch never caught, so no puppies. Then we got more into the JRTs. I still want a toller one day.

I toyed with the idea of getting a Chinese Crested - hairless. I didn't because I am outdoors so much with my dogs and they simply can't handle the weather.

I researched many other breeds before deciding that the poodle was for me. I never got close to getting any other breeds though, I was just researching them.

I was thinking about Standard Poodles, Keeshunds and Corgis when I found Sarama . . . in fact I was about to go look a failed show prospect poodle when Sarama appeared. That was the end of that!

I was looking at American Eskimos but couldn't find any Standard ones, only mini and toy. Was looking at Border Collies but decided to try Aussies first. Glad I did! I would still like a Border some day though. And I did so love the Eskies I grew up with at my grandma's farm, it's just so hard to find a good one these days.

I was very, very close to getting a Border Terrier once. I still plan on getting one when the time is right...

I almost got a greyhound puppy, a "defective" pup from a local racing kennel. (My mom is an elementary school teacher, and one of her student's parents bred these dogs "in bulk" - so, inevitably, they'd have a few pups with birth defects, cataracts, etc.

But, my parents and I decided we didn't want to start out with a dog with lots of health problems, so the search for a new breed began. I worked with someone who had a dobe (Rajah) that I LOVED... and a year later, I came home with Rajah's little cousin... Ilsa!

I was all set to adopt a GSD before I got Ripley. In a horrible and completely preventable accident, my GSD was killed. I still wonder what life would've been like with him. He had his fair share of issues.

I came close to getting a Fila before I got Eve. I'm glad now that I didn't, Eve and I were meant to be.

I looked at Aussies before I got my first BC, but I really think Borders are the better match for me. I'd still like an Aussie, probably a rescue :)

I've also wanted a Doberman for years, but never wound up with one. Someday I'll add one to the family.

Long ago, I wanted a Husky, before I had any real life experience with them. I was never really that close to getting one though, because I soon realized after researching their personality and gaining some first hand experience, that they were not for me.

I nearly got a Border Collie before I got Kai. But it didn't pan out. I'm glad it didn't, because I otherwise wouldn't have Kai. I still maybe want a Border Collie someday after I graduate, but I'm also in love with Tervs and Aussies. So who knows.

We looked at getting a yellow lab or a doberman from specialed rescue groups, but it was far to expensive for our budget. And we will only rescue. But I kinda like having a mutt that we have no idea what could be thrown in.

Husky or Rottie.

i still love both breeds, but if Milo was that size, i'd probably have no more arms.

I was VERY close to getting a Border Terrier, but had to back out when I found out my dad had cancer because I couldn't handle the stress of that AND a puppy.

Then I nearly got a rottie, but decided I needed a few more days to research them, and the pup I was after was sold. I still want one, maybe after my fostering saga is done.
