Ditto dr2little.
I like all breeds of dogs to be honest. Or at least I'm not afraid of any. I can't say I LOVE the look of the Komodor (sp?) or Puli though...

Im not scared of any breed. But I may be afraid of any breed of dog snarling and snapping trying to attack me. Of course thats the owners fault.

I don't like MOST terriers, I don't like purebred labs, I don't like German Shepherds, Chis, French Bulldog, and Poms.

I can't say I'm a fan of Chow Chows after almost being attacked by one. I just don't like their tendency to be aggressive, nor their extreme wariness.

I'm not scared of dogs, I'm scared of people that don't know what to do with their dogs.

If I had to choose a type of dog to be scared of, it would be all those little breeds like shitzu's the bark up a storm whenever you go by them. Those little things a bugs! The whole "little dog syndrome" lol

I am initially wary around toy poodles. That's the only dog I've ever been bitten by.

My husband doesn't like chows. He's been bitten three times in his life, and all three dogs were chows. On one occassion when he was a little boy, the chow actually dragged him off his bicycle when he was riding down the sidewalk. My hubby is getting better about his dislike, but I'm not sure if he'll ever be completely at his ease around them.

I tend to be cautious around Rottweilers. I just can't bring myself to trust Rotties after having 95% of my experiences with the breed be bad ones. I trust certain dogs, but I'm leary of the breed as a whole. I feel guilty about it but I will never approach one of these dogs and will probably always be defensive when I see one :( I have a friend who shows her two Rottweiler bitches and she really wants me to get a Rottie girl.. I know I would love one of my own, and owning one would definitely change my opinion of the breed.. but it'd be a big step.

Besides Rotts.. I'm honestly very cautious around ANY dog I don't know. If they approach me and want attention, I make friends. Otherwise, I leave them alone.

I'm not afraid of certain breeds but I am cautious of all dogs (and their owners) that I don't know personally because you never know how they might react to new people. I'm not afraid of them though.

I'm wary of Chihuahuas, Malteses, and other ankle biters. ;) They are the only ones that have ever tried to bite me. My Aunts Chihuahuas used to chase me around the house and bite my ankles. And once a Maltese ran into the sidewalk and latched onto my pant leg.

Not so much scared, perhaps "not much in common" is the preferable term when applied to the toy breeds; though I'm tolerant of ALL dogs. As a kid, I recall concealing stray dogs (any breed) to avoid their capture when the county "dog catcher" ventured near our ranch. It worked---he never did apprehend my canine buddies!!!!

Please, and this is to everyone:

Please do not judge entire breeds by your experiences with just one or a few dogs.

IMO, there are NO bad breeds. But there are plenty of bad breeders and owners.

There is no breed entire that I dislike.

I'm with the others, in that I dislike PEOPLE who do not train and control their dogs.

I've never disliked a dog before, but then I was attacked by the Dogo Argentino belonging to my neighbour. I dislike that particular dog, but not the breed in general, having said that, I wouldn't particulary want one of my own either.

Redyre, most people on this board are educated enough to know that there are no bad breeds. Unfortunately, fear is not a rational thing. I've only been bitten once by a toy poodle, and I know it's silly to feel a little bit guarded around them when first introduced. But all the logic in the world won't tell my brain that.

My coworker's son was attacked by the family cat about a year ago. The attack was so bad that he was actually hospitalized for four days. He is now terrified of cats, even tiny kittens. They had an adoption day at a local Petco, and there were some orphaned kittens there that were still being bottle-fed. He wouldn't even go near them. And this is a nearly six-foot tall football player. He's well aware that his fear is completely irrational. But that doesn't do much to help him at this point.

I know there is no such thing as a bad breed. But like I said, it can be hard to convice your fears of that.

there are certain breeds i'm certainly more cautious with until i get to know them, especially in the vet hospital environment- chows are one (though the only one i've seen at the practice where i work now is a big squashy love), shar peis, springers, and most adult intact male dog with some macho clueless jerk holding the leash (or the chain, in some cases).

interestingly, none of the dogs i've been bitten by are on my list of breeds to be cautious around.

Ditto... if I see a Chow I'm walking the other way. No offense to anyone who has one, but I never will, too many bad experiences with them....

I didn't explain myself well enough. Typically people who own little dogs (don't flame me :)) are elderly, or the "softie" type. They allow their dog to be the leader and in doing so, the dog thinks it can act out aggressively towards anyone it pleases.
