Wow!

Border Terrier was my top match at 85%.

That's pretty crazy. Didn't expect that because usually those tests are so stupid. lol. Guess that confirms any of my doubts that they weren't for me :D

Others were a Golden Retriever (which I do love, and have been thinking about more and more), Sheltie, Poodle, Papillon, Australian Terrier, Soft coated Wheaten.

I answered it 100% honestly in relation to my current doggy lifestyle and this is what I got.

Your Top Matches

German Shepherd Dog 80%
Belgian Tervuren 73%
Bouvier des Flandres 72%
Belgian Sheepdog 69%
Belgian Malinois 68%

I wonder what I would have to do to get Aussies as a suggestion?

Also, they seem to think that ACDs are harder dogs than malinois! I consider them generally a step below Mals, but not by much. According to the selctor, ACDs need a large yard and shouldn't be in an apartment, but Mals need an average yard and are ok in an apartment if exercised well, yet ACD need "lots of exercise" and mals need "daily vigorous exercise". Also, ACDs are "dominant" and mals are neither overly dominant or submissive. Weird.
I think it depends on what you like. I think I'd find ACDs more difficult than Belgians in some ways.

LOL @ Malinois "Availability: Difficult to find."

Interesting, I got Mal/gsd/terv/aussie.

Then, tweaked the "reserved" to "wary" and got collie.

I then tweeked the jogging from desired to important and the companion dog from important to don't care and I got a pharaoh hound.

Strange scale...
Well that's just weird...

Here's mine:

I have PWD extended family so to speak. I'm sure I could enjoy having the right one, although their health is more worrisome than I tend to choose. Savvy thinks the PWDs are his family and whenever he sees them he gets soooo excited and wants to walk with them in a group like "yep...these are my peeps!".

Pumis and Icelandics are breeds I have looked at. I have also enjoyed big and medium sized Poodles and BCs. I like BTs for a small dog and if I had to pick a sporting breed a Toller isn't a bad choice. I know Shelties fit the stuff I like to do with my dogs but I've never really been drawn to them. Beardies seem good in theory but they're a bit too "OMG! YAY!!!!" for me. Keeshond, ESS, Labs, Eskies, Staffies, German Pinschers, Chinook and...Bichons (really?! Bichons?) are not really breeds I'd consider. I'd say the Belgians should be a bit higher ;)

And...what's with everyone getting PyrSheps except for me!?

I got a PWD at like 60%

Went back and added small and giant dogs (hoping for a Newf maybe...) and PWD dropped off the chart entirely and I got an American Water Spaniel.

Which is again... not incorrect, although I didn't really like the only one I met.

Then I changed something else and got an American Cocker. Well... not so much.

I should go meet some AWS.

I have concluded that you need to be dominant to own a border collie. But not as dominant for a Terv to be #1? Like, what gives? :rofl1:

My top 5 are:

Cocker Spaniel73%
Löwchen73%
Labrador Retriever73%
Portuguese Water Dog73%
Basenji72%

I would own any of those but the Basenji, although I wanted one desperately as a kid. I've never really looked into Lowchens, but definitely interested in them, and I LOVE Cocker Spaniels, especially field bred.

Just finished the thread. I like that nearly everybody but me got Malinois except me. I guess that means I'm giving this clicker-eating snot to one of you :p

Well, I find it to be average. I'll never have a GSD again by choice, and the rest are far more grooming than I care for (not sure how that happened!) but I'm not that disappointed, I've seen worse:

German Shepherd Dog 82%
Bouvier des Flandres 80%
Belgian Sheepdog 76%
Belgian Tervuren 76%
Collie (Rough) 75%

I think it was the one by Eukanuba recently I took for fun and it kept giving me Wire-haired pointing griffon, yeah, no thanks! Too much grooming, and it's not a herding breed.

I could definitely see myself with a retriever (Lab most likely), a poodle, a papillon, ESS or even possibly a JRT.

But many, such as the Schnauzers, Pincher, SCWT, Belgian Shep etc are really too sharp for me to begin. Basically, they are dogs that I wouldn't ever consider.

I maybe shouldn't have ticked the terrier box because I got a disproportionate number of terriers in that list.
