RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK!

Yes, my Zeus is a ridgeback. And to think....all this time I thought he was a cur. I feel so betrayed. But isn't he just the prettiest ridgie ever?

I'm with Nolu tho ... surprised someone even knew enough to suggest Rhodesian Ridgeback. They are not a commonly known breed ... but then neither is Black-Mouth Cur.

People mistake Sofie my Westie for a Bichon or Maltese. Bichons I can understand when their heads are teased, but come on people....

Our Westie Riley has been called a Bichon, toy Poodle, white Cairn, white Scottie, white Schnauzer, but mostly just "cute little white dog".
So far only two strangers have correctly identified him as a Westie ... but the first said her Mom had three Westies and the second was walking a female Westie.

What I love is when people call my dogs a breed when they're with a dog of that breed. For instance, Keeda gets called a dobie a lot. When I pulled a dobie from a high kill shelter, EVERYONE called her a dobie. but an example of the breed was right next to her... and she's half it's size, very very very dark brown that can only be seen in certain light(and not at all when looking down at her), with a white blaze on her chest.

Usually people either know that my dogs are chihuahuas, or they ask what they are. Most of the time it's "are they teacups?!"

Chloe's gotten a couple of weird ones before, though... husky puppy (the blue eyes, I'm guessing) and JRT (maybe because of all the white?).

I would have asked if it was an Anatolian Shepherd, and it would have been a compliment, even if wrong, as they are beautiful dogs!

Here, it's hit and miss. Curs are somewhat more common here, so I've met several people who know what Zeus is. Some of the more reasonable guesses I've gotten are greyhound mix, dane puppy or lab mix. But this is the first time he's been called a ridgeback, LOL.

No shame in that! He's been guessed as an anatolian several times. Anatolians are a lot larger and their coats are thicker, but they do look very similar.

I once had a person ask me of my black dog was a (and they said the entire name).. a West Highland White Terrier. Gawd. Facesmack on that one. LOL
