That sounds closer than their breed guess. They have her listed as a shepherd/collie mix and they had her breed size marked "large". I asked if Aussie is what they meant by "shepherd" but they were actually thinking GSD. I can see it but IDK. Unless they are way off on the age she looks more like a medium dog than a large dog to me.

I know. She is freaking adorable. She comes home with us Friday. Our first dog in a long time and I can't wait!

Looks like an Aussie mix to me. Maybe even someone's idea of a "Mini Aussie", depending on how common they are around you. Looks like a few poorly bred Mini's I've seen.

I think she's going to be bigger than you think she will. I'll be interested to see how she grows :)

I'm not really sure on breed guess.

They probably said collie because of white feet, and GSD because of black and tan. I'd agree with aussie mix at this point, but it's hard to tell in puppies this young. Can't wait to see how she grows! And yes, holy crap, she IS adorable! <3

She has fairly dainty feet, so I'd guess she'd mature to a medium size. I'd guess Aussie/something/several somethings. Does she have a nub tail?

Yeah, that. Don't you know, everything black and tan is a GSD mix? And a longish coat makes it a Collie mix? ;) Seriously tho- my guess is Aussie mix as well. Given her estimated age, if you double her weight, you can get a rough idea of how big she'll be as an adult.

I am reasonably sure she is a ReallyReallyCute x YouShouldAdoptHer mix.

Yes. Would someone dock a mutts tail? I wondered about that!
Yup, they would, especially if she is part Aussie. People say, "Oh, my dog has this breed in it, and this breed has a docked tail, so thus I will dock the puppies' tails!"
But some are born with nubs, too. ^^ My neighbor's Cattle Dog/Aussie mix had a litter of pups with a random mutt dog (Cur/ACD/Shepherd-y looking thing) and one of her blue merle babes had a naturally bobbed tail.

Hm. I didn't realize docking mutts was a thing. Lol. I would be surprised if it was natural just because she had what I guess is supposed to be a litter mate in her kennel and she also had a nub tail and was solid red/brown and short haired. I guess the could both be natural but I don't really know how common natural ones are.

Hannah, my parents dog has a naturally bobbed tail and about half the litter did too.

That doesn't help you at all though!

I like Shai's answer the best, ReallyReallyCute x YouShouldAdoptHer mix seems right on the mark

That left leg of hers looks like it has some turn out. Are her legs symmetric? If not, I would keep a close eye on that in case there's an issue with growth plate closure.

It could come from an injury or just naturally developed as such.

Ok, thanks. I'm not sure if its symmetrical or not. I didn't notice it at the shelter and we won't have her home until tomorrow. When we find our own vet and take we I'll ask about it.

Tail bob could be natural, or some people do dock mixes.

Story about that: When I worked for a vet, a client found a newborn puppy abandoned in a dumpster. Brought it in. We treated her, she survived. We found her a home. She was black & tan, and people became convinced she was a Rottie mix, partly because one of the vet techs insisted that the black on her toes meant she was. (argggh.) So they decided to dock the tail. I'm all "NO, she looks nothing like a Rott, bad idea!"

Grown up, she proved that a husky mix looks pretty goofy without a tail.

(sorry for the OT, I just find it funny.)
