Boxer non stop shedding, any suggestions?

Ok ive been fed him everything from diamond lamb and rice (lowest food hes been on) to merrik, chicken soup, timberwolf. and nothing matters.

he does have a thyroid prob and hes on meds for that, when i brush him the hair is non stop coming out, would a furminator or anything like that help? anyone have suggestions?

ahh, our big girl is a boxer mix something. Never met a short coated dog with no undercoat that sheds so much. She's white and it seriously looks like its snowing if you pat her enough.

we invested in a good broom lol.
Daily brushing outside help but we have 4 that don't have the hair stop coming out of them.

Get a rubber brush... with long, pliant bristles. It's a lot of manual labor but it removes pounds of hair and makes their coats silky smooth. I'm warning you, though.. you can't just brush a few strokes and be done with it.. you'll be having a 10-20 minute grooming session. And probably repeat it the next day or at least the day after if she sheds like my little mutt. It IS worth the effort, though. The brush makes their coats even silkier and smoother than before, removing excess hair without damaging or breaking it, and spreads the coat oils a bit. Another benefit is that it's rubber and easy to clean!

Also, baths help. A lot. A lot a lot a lot. Never underestimate the power of a good bath. (try not to overestimate the power of your drain against hair, too.)

At my school when we bathe them we use a rubber curry instead of our hands to loosen up the undercoat and get rid of some of that extra hair that will eventually end up on your couch. Then after blow drying and the coat is completly moisture free we card the dog with a #40 clipper blade and that get a lot of the undercoat out. You can also use a rubber curry all over the dog to get some hair off, but like nolurdoru said

I WISH he'd let me blow dry him. But the second I bring out the blow dryer I get the Evil Eye and a cringing, unhappy dog.. so I figure towel-dry and leave well enough alone, LOL! I'm glad you added the suggestion about the rubber brush during baths... WOW! I tried it tonight when he got his much-needed bath (I have one with short, very round nubs) and I couldn't believe how well it worked. My bathtub needed to be cleaned after, and my drain wasn't thrilled, but after getting all that hair out I can't figure out why he isn't bald yet.

Shawnifer is there any chance you could tell me more about #40 clipper blade? If it's something with some practice, care, and common sense someone who isn't a groomer can safely use I'd be interested...

Sure, the #40 clipper blade is sometimes used as a tool for carding. You hold it so that the side that the face side (it'll says 40) is pointed towards the ceiling. Then we just comb through the dog with pressure, but not enough to cut the dog (you'll know when you're digging instead of just applying pressure to loosen up that undercoat). When you can't really get anymore out then I'd go ahead and rubber curry again just to get the rest of it off

Thanks for the info! I'm going to have to pick up one, lol. Would Petco/Petsmart have an affordable, usable blade? I know some of the stuff they carry is cheap crap.
