Books you've read

I adore books. I love to read. Fiction, non fiction, I love them both. Even a good fiction book can have important life lessons to be observed and learned through the words, and of course non fiction always has information to be learned.

So, all you dog training and behavior fanatics out there, what books have you read to gain all your knowledge? What authors or trainers do you follow and swear by? Any websites too? Articles, magazines?

I've just recently gotten back into reading more and more training/behavior books and I want more. Gimme, gimme! I want names, titles, authors,.. anything you can give me. :D

So far I've read(that I can remember):

The Other End of the Leash - Patricia B McConnel
The Culture Clash - Jean Donaldson
Don't Shoot the Dog - Karen Pryor
The Power of Positive Dog Training - Pat Miller
Positive Reinforcement: Training Dogs in the Real World -Brenda Aloff
Bones Would Rain From The Sky - Suzanne Clothier

And I get Dog World and The Whole Dog Journal magazines.

I've read a few more, but do not remember exact titles or authors.

So, lets hear about those books others have read! :)

Clean Run is Awesome, a must have for anyone competing or thinking about competing in agility.

Since most of the books I was going to post have already been posted (gr)
here are some of my other fav's.

Shaping Success by Susan Garrett (don't call her Sue, she doesn't like that lol) 5+ Star

Course Analysis is good. Info on the how, why and where of crosses, which crosses etc.

Greg Derrett's DVD's are AWESOME. 5 + Star
Focus by Keller and ?
If I think of any others.....

My favorite non-fiction books are already listed, although I would add Patricia McConnell's "For the Love of a Dog" to the list as well.

Since you mentioned the lessons learned from fiction, I'll add "Sight Hound" by Pam Houston to the list. Horribly sad, about a woman's heart dog (a wolfhound) dying of cancer. Each chapter is written in a different voice, including the dogs. There is a great chapter where her other dog is hiking with a boyfriend. The man is panicking and screaming her name as she's chasing animals, and the dog is wondering why anyone would respond to that tone:p .

Animals in Translation - Temple Grandin
I am in the process of reading this--did you like it Jess? I am fascinated by Temple Grandin because she is able to give a real look into what it is like to be autistic--and her understanding of animals is amazing.

I've read all of the above and they are all good books. I'm anxious to get my hands on a copy of Susan Garrett's "Shaping Success".

two of my favorites: "good owners great dogs" just a great practical training guide by brian kilcommon and "lessons from a sheepdog" by...I cant think of his name....a great nonfiction story.

Dekka:
I will have to look for "clean run"....who wrote it?
We are starting advanced beginners agility with our aussie....so it sounds like a must read!
