Believe it or not, I actually already did. That page is busy. Boo's listing is already way down the page.

And thank you thank you to everyone else. My mom is laminating flyers and starting to hang them all around town. She's also making big poster board flyers for some local intersections. I'm still running through my call list.

I had a nice distraction playing with my friend's family's puppy for a few minutes, but now I'm back to my previous state.

I'm driving home to NoVA if (god forbid) she isn't found by Thursday night.

Does anyone have experience with those pet trackers? (the ones who use search dogs to find lost dogs?)

OH no! :( Vibes. I'll be thinking of you and Boo.

I work with a man who uses his dog to track down missing cats with good success. I would give it a go if the option is available, personally.

How long do you think we should wait before trying a tracker? It's not cheap ($100/hr + gas money to and from our location), but obviously I recognize that the longer we wait, the harder it will be to find her at all. I'm not sure that my parents would love the idea, but I think they'd be willing if she hasn't reappeared.

I want her back today.

I unfortunately could not tell you how long to wait. That's a very personal decision based on a lot of things going on in your life. I would call the tracker and ask for statistics for length of time gone and go from there.

I would not wait on a pet tracker - scent decreases pretty quickly. If you're going to use one, get one out there today if possible.

If you can, I would put flyers on every mail box (not IN the mailbox, but tucked between the flag and box). When our cat (who was deathly afraid of strangers) got out, we probably put out 600 flyers in the surrounding subdivisions. (Rule of thumb at that time was 1 mile search radius for cats, 5 mile radius for dogs - assuming they're traveling on foot and haven't been picked up.)

Anyway, we got results that way and were able to track her wanderings - took six weeks of constant searching/flyers but we got her home.

I so hope Boo's found soon, or some kind soul took her in and will see the flyers. Hugs to you and your family!

There's also HelpingLostPets.com that you could post her on. Not sure how big of a following the site has out that way, but it could help.

Come home Boo!!!

I keep checking this thread hopefully :(

My brother accidentally let Copper out when I was away a few years ago, she was gone for twelve days, found 15 miles away. Don't give up hope!

I would write up an email with photos of Boo and mass email every Vet Clinic and Shelter in a 25 miles radius. You never know where a dog can end up. Someone could've picked her up and then she escaped from them, 20 miles away...I've heard some crazy stories of reunited pets/owners and you really can't help but scratch your head and wonder "how the hell?"

If you need help compiling email addresses/sending out emails, I'd be happy to. Just let me know! Also, hit every FB page of every pet related business in your area as well, especially pet stores. When people find a pet, they often need to hit a pet store for supplies.

COME HOME BOO!!

Going on the pet store idea... this might sound crazy... but if your area is somewhat small, also put up fliers where people go for their morning coffee.

We have a local town deli, and I can't tell you how many strays have been reunited because people were talking about finding a dog while getting their morning coffee and then someone else said, "hey so and so was in here earlier talking about loosing a dog..."

Thank you all. No luck yet, but my mom and brother are finishing putting up intersection signs tonight and my mom has been giving flyers to whoever will take them (the local Starbucks, Giant, and Shoppers included). I recommended the mailbox idea to her, which we might try. She emailed all of the neighbors and one neighbor used to be on a panel with other neighborhoods and offered to email her multi-neighborhood listserv. Word seems to be getting out.

We had our first potential lead today, but the dog was sighted about 10-15 miles away from my home. It might've been Boo except that my brother is sure that he fed Boo dinner at 6 PM on Saturday and the sighting was in the earlier afternoon of that same day :(

I hope the intersection flyers should catch people's eyes.

My mom also left a message with Dogs Finding Dogs, another local pet tracker. They said on their website that they should respond within 24 hours. Does anyone have any experience with them? I've heard good things about Pure Gold from a rescue that I've worked with, but DFD seems to be a bit more affordable and when I spoke with my mom, she seemed more inclined to try them.

I'm trying to keep my hopes up. If there is one thing that I feel very fortunate about, it's the outpouring of advice and support that we have received. My boyfriend helped me call 31 vet clinics today, his mother (who is in NoVA) drove around with my mom to hang flyers, the neighbor that I previously mentioned spread the word via her listserv, another offered her laminating machine for my mom to make flyers, and yet another went walking around the area personally to look. I appreciate each and every person who has shared her facebook listing. My old volunteer group was willing to send her info out to their listserv and I had numerous responses with advice and offers to help. So, as upset as I am currently, thank you all for the help. God help me, we are going to find Boo even if I am 250 miles away.
