I just wanted to introduce our newest foster boy! This is Bogey!
He's a charming lad...
He's a 6 month old intact male Pit Bull. He was at Animal Control for over 50 days when we finally pulled him. We went in looking for something a little different to foster and found an older Pit, but I got emailed by the Animal Control staff about him instead since he was at risk for euthanasia soon since he had been there so long. So of course, we decided to take the wild puppy.
He's actually super sweet and mild mannered for the most part, though. I took him to the park right away to run off some energy and work on some obedience/recall and he did really well.. wanted to mouth/jump a bit, but once he figured out sitting was what was getting him hotdogs, he changed his tune. In the house he was a little spastic at first, I'm not sure if he had ever been in one... He's got an awesome on/off switch though... I sat down to make him a collar and he just chilled out on the kitchen floor. He's 100% housetrained from what I can tell... we've only had him since Thursday, but he has not made any attempt to go on the floor or in his crate and he goes asap when he gets outside.
He knows how to sit and down already, as the trainers at A/C were working with him, which is fantastic. He's learning touch and stay with the clicker currently. He's very quiet in the crate, though did break out numerous times a few nights ago, which I fixed with zip ties. XD
He's very friendly and playful with the other dogs, but we did slow intros with everyone, because being a wound up pit puppy, he was very rude. Recon wanted to kill him for the first day and a half he was there because he wouldn't get out of his face. Sir and him are best pals of course, and Frag just doesn't care anymore.
It's definitely interesting having two intact dogs in the house, three yesterday with a daycare dog.
He was a champ at the vet, too, and tested negative for intestinal parasites via fecal, and negative for HW, which was a relief. I gave him a DHPP vaccine last night and he was a doll for that as well. I don't anticipate him lasting very long in the rescue... he'll make someone a great dog.
I'll be updating this as I have more videos and pictures and info to post. He'll be on the web next week hopefully, after his quarantine period.
