I'm pretty sure I have a stupid infection and it's soooo uncomfortable! I've been squirming in my chair all morning at work :( Does anyone else get these? I think I'm made wrong because I've had three in the past year. I'm not sure if this is an ambarrassing post yet...I think it is lol :) Whatever.

Do you drink cranberry juice? It is excellent for control of bladder and urinary tract infections. There are also cranberry pills if you don't like the juice. My mom used to get UTIs all the time, like 5 or 6 per year. Her doc told her to drink as much cranberry juice as she could and now she drinks a glass per day and never gets them anymore.

If you've had 3 confirmed UTIs in the last year then I'd suggest to ask to see a Urologist. They'll be able to pin point the cause of your infections. It's not uncommon for some women to got threw many infections but you don't want it to develop into your kidneys.

I went through the same thing a few years ago. I haven't had a UTI in a year *knock on wood* but before then I almost had one for a constant year. The Urologist had me got through a bunch of test, bladder cycloscopy, IVP xrays, you name it. I'm just pron to it and with some meds and daily dose of cranberry pills the infection is pretty much under control.

Good luck with yours, don't let it get worse and see the doctor. I've let it go once and it infected my kidneys. I've never felt so horrible!

Thanks for the advice you guys! I bought cranberry juice once but it was so tart I couldn't drink it. I'm going to get some pills for sure. I think I've had this one for almost a week, was trying to see if it would go away (once I thought I was getting once but it ended up going away) Doesn't look like this one is giong anywhere anytime soon :( I'm not running a fever and when I hit my lower back I don't feel any pain (kidney area) so hopefully it hasn't spread into those babies :)

I'm going into the urgent care after work today because I don't have insurnace with a regular doctor yet. Probably gonna cost a pretty penny but, oh well.

Giny, do you think I should have them do all those tests now or wait until I have my insurance and go back for further tests?

I didn't ask for those test, I never knew they existed before then. I'm sure they probably cost quite a bit if you're not insured.

At the very least go see your doctor so they can put you on some antibiotics. Follow up with a 3 week culture to make sure the infection is gone.

Sush go to Doc's on Duty ;), if I remember right there is one right on Ocean Street kinda kitty corner from the Best Western on Soquel and Ocean. They should be able to see you right away and it's not crazy expensive either.

I've had many of them, and they're extremely uncomfortable for sure. Lot's of fluids and cranberry juice do help a lot. There is an over the counter medication you can take that helps the bladder spasms... I can't remember the name of the medication, but it turns your urine orange. Ask the Pharmicist. Also, take some extra vitamin c.:) I hope that you feel better soon.

Awww, I've never had a bladder infection, but I can imagine how bad it would be. I had a kidney infection when I was 16, and I almost died. I was almost unconscious, and I had to have a couple of shots of antibiotics. I guess I didn't realize how bad it was until it was really late =/

I hope you feel better soon!

I called them and he quoted me $200 just to see the doctors plus more for the tests plus more for the meds...Santa Cruz Medical Clinic Urgent Care said I'd pay $100 deposit and if it didn't turn out to be a common bladder infection it would be more for further tests. I think that's the sweet spot :)

holy carp...they have gotten expensive since the last time I was there. You used to pay like $30 to get in...then pay for whatever tests you had done. SCMC sounds like the best bet for ya...hope you feel better soon

I've had it once. It didn't bother me except when I was going to the bathroom, then it was really painful.

I've heard that any kind of berries actually work well, blackberries and blueberry too... but I can't imagine not taking antibiotics for that :yikes:
