I'm so nervous for him. I sure hope he doesn't have any bad side effects. Anyone know what will probably happen to him? He's taking it for his severe genetic fear issues. The behaviorist suggested trying it for a month to see what difference it would make. She also said he will never be a "stable" dog and the best to hope for is 50%.
I also wonder if pumpkin would help if he did get diarrhea.
I took zoloft for 3 years (4 years ago) and I remember feeling high for the first week or so. He's on the lowest dosage for his weight 20mg 2x's daily. I hope he is spared the bad ones and this helps him and doesn't hurt him.
Wish us luck

Thanks!
He's laying on the couch with me. I doubt I will have a restful night. I just hope he does. I guess tomorrow will be the harder one with a full dose. I wanted to start him on it on my days off to keep an eye on him. I don't go back to work til Tuesday afternoon.

Ok I READ the original post lol Misty had to take anti anxiety meds it didn't help, it was called BuSpar. She'd just become so petrified of storms, fire works with the pill she'd just pant louder and shake harder! The best thing you can do is allow them to seek a hide place? And not to give a lot of affection b/c it's only rewarding the behavior

Harv never had any side effects from the Prozac that I could tell. Nor with the Clomipramine. Hopefully Biz will do well and this will help him, for his sake as well as yours. It can take a lot out of you living with a very fearful dog.

It takes a while for some of these medications to make noticeable changes, to get the dosages right, etc.

Prozac and other "mind meds" have proven to be very invaluable to some dogs.

Best of luck.

If he were to suffer a seizure from it, would he have by now or can he still have that adverse side effect later?
I remember feeling bad for a week or so, but I'm no dog.
Buspar was my first ssri try, made me feel drunk. Paxil was ok but dr gave me zoloft instead. I was situational and luckily bounced out of it. My anxiety is much better now. Escalators and stairs are my test. If I feel like I am going to fall backwards and start to panic a bit I know I'm in trouble again.
Thanks everyone
