I'm getting an 8 week old Beauceron from a breeder who lives in Indiana, I live in Florida. What's the safest way to ship dogs?

They won't fly a pup that young. I'm in Indy and sold a pup to a lady in Florida....she drove up to get him.

I would contact the airlines and see what you can get in the most direct flight from Indiana to Florida. The fewer changes of plane, the better.

I've had three dogs shipped to me so far. The last was my chow pup, who flew from Ontario, Canada to Alaska at the age of 8 weeks. If the breeder has done their work properly (with socialization, crate training, etc.) then your pup will probably handle it just fine. But a pup that hasn't been crate trained ahead of time may very well be very spooked by the whole procedure. Two of the three who came to me did great - one had a very traumatic time and it's affected her personality.

Good luck!

Rules have changed then... my pup had to be 12 weeks old. to fly. Did well thought with a direct flight Indy to Denver.

Check with the airlines, there are still some that won't fly under the age of 12weeks. And a direct flight during non-busy times, like early morning or late evening, will help as well. Not as frantic, and definitely not as hot.
