Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

I give Delia Frontline Plus once a month and I always seem to make a huge mess. I put her in the down position and push back some hair between her shoulder blades to expose some skin. I get the applicator real close to her skin and then squirt it on.

The problem is when she stands up, the liquid runs down her back and side. It scares me because sometimes it gets in areas where she could lick if she wanted to.

The only things I could think to do would be maybe try to put it in 3 or 4 different spots between her shoulder blade instead of just the one or to maybe not put the entire dose on her. But the Frontline website says to put it in one location and use the entire dosage.

Standing here too ....between shoulder blades and squeeze slowly rubbing in with applicator tip back and forth about 2 inches along ... never drips or even wet hair.

I have the same problem with my cats, and cats can turn their head further around than dogs, so I always worry about them licking it.

With Sadie I usually put it on about an inch of the back neck area. I start at the back of her neck between the shoulder blades and go in a line about an inch down. This way if it runs a little (hers never runs a lot), it's still where she can't reach it to lick.

Katies sometimes gets in her hair (not where she can lick it) and has a "grease spot" for awhile til it dries, but it never drips n stuff. Aaron always puts it on her though.

OK. I'll have to play around with the small inch or two line on the back too. Before it's just seemed like there was too much liquid for the small spot I was putting it on.

Maybe you can put in 2 different spots instead of putting it all on one spot? I use the same on my pups, every once in a while they will get "oil slicks" on their backs, but never where they can reach to lick.

Agree ... you really have to get down to the skin area .... and never in one spot ,,,, for females who dye ... think of the " roots " ...I know mine have been long haired dogs , but I've never seen any wetness .
