Bernese Mt. Dogs shed about as much as a Saint Bernard does. Yes, they would be bad for allergy sufferers, since they shed so much.
This is off of www.yourpurebredpuppy.com :
"6. Heavy Shedding. Bernese Mountain Dogs shed a LOT. You'll find hair and fur all over your clothing, upholstery, carpeting, under your furniture, on your countertops -- even in your food. Frequent vacuuming will become a way of life. Make sure you are REALLY up for this."

Here is the link that I got this from: http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/bernesemountaindogs.html

Do you need a dog that is good for allergy sufferers?
