I went with my boyfriend to see his family, and took my new puppy. She was quite the star, sitting and waving, except for one thing. She didn't like my boyfriend's brother in law. She cowered away, I thought she we just alittle over whelmed(he has a big family) so I just let her explore, but even as she warmed up to everyone else, she would not go near him, much to his displeasure. Even when he would catch her, she would just sqirm till let go.

I tried not to think much of it, I had never seen such behavior from her, even to compleate strangers she would usually beg for attention, so since I reinvorce the behavior, I figured it would be a fluke.

A week or so ago, when coming home from school, my mother told bella had once again growled at someone, she also mentioned she didn't like him either, as he reeked of tabacco. My boyfriend's brother in law also dipps. strange?

Today, My family was in a non pet friendly store, and I was walknig her along the sidewalk, and we ran into some people, all of which petted and complimented her cuteness, until we ran in to some one on their somking break, she walked up, took one look, backed up and lowly growled.

She has never growled at anyone else, except people using tobacco. It is possible she can smell, and dislike it that much? If so, what can I do to help her get over this quirk.

Thank again!

How old, what breed, and how much socialization has she had?

Where did you get her?

How long have you had her, exactly?

We got her from a rescue and were told she was st bernard boxer

I would say on avg day she meets(gets petted by and sniffs) about 10 meet, on a good say, 20 or so. She stays at work with me so it is lots of differnt people, and the lowe's here is pet friendly so we go in there to get stuff about 2 a week.

She had been doing this for about 4 weeks/when we got her.

I cannot answer your question without more info.

Age, her age when you got her, etc is important to try to evaluate these issues.
