After three months of trying to get Charlie used to being alone, we were refered to a behaviorist for his separation anxiety. My question is has anyone else taken their dogs to a behaviorist? What could they tell us differently than a trainer?

My behaviouralist comes to my house once a week and observes the dogs and talks with me on what is happening and every detail on the disliked habit. When it happens, what is going on around us at the time....then he tells me why it is happening and how to fix or help it. THe trainer that I work with trains actions like sit, stay, come...when it comes to why my dog is submissive he says ask a behaviouralist.

I would think a good trainer/behaviourist is one and the same.

How can you train a dog without learning its behaviours??

Same thing about behaviours how can you know what dog thinks if you are not an experienced trainer?
