Someone my mom knows has a so called "Komodo Dragon". I found out he is actually a BEARDED Dragon. My favorite kind of lizard! She is trying to find a home for him and my mom brought it to my attention. (I will call him/her a he but I do not know his gender). She said either the $30 fish tank set up, or the Bearded Dragon, and I said DEFINETLY the Bearded Dragon. The person owning him/her? said he is about 7 inches long and we will be able to get him for free with cage set up and everything. They are not sure yet if they are going to give him away, though. I am pretty sure they are. I cant wait to meet this guy. They obviously are not very knowledgable about him so he will be in good hands with me. Hope I get him! Does anyone have any information for me to use?? Thanks so much!

Here's a forum I found last night...I didn't have much time to really look at it, but here it is: http://www.beardeddragon.org/bjive/

And here's another forum I just found (but haven't looked at yet): http://bearded-dragons.com/boards/index.php

I've wanted a Bearded Dragon for such a long time, but since I got my turtles I don't have enough room right now. Anyway, good luck and I hope you get him. And you'll definitely have to post pics if you do! :)

I have a bearded dragon. They're really easy to care for. They require vegetation as a part of their diet. I feed my guy dusted crickets and romaine lettuce. He also seems to like chopped up carrots. Its important to have the right temperature established in the tank, along with a basking spot and a shaded area for hiding. Dragons love to climb; mine spends nearly the entire day on the "rock" wall, or perched on the grapevine. BD's use temperature to aid in digestion, and if not enough heat is present, the food they have already consumed can rot in their stomach. Youll probably notice the lizard opening his mouth as he basks, thats perfectly normal. Thats only thermoregulation; it helps to control his body temp. Also, you should provide a shallow "bowl" of water in the terrarrium . Just deep enough to where he can step in it and walk around. My dragon loves to sit in the water bowl. He drinks directly out of it, although I have heard people say that their dragons will not drink out of a still water source. If that turns out to be the case with your lizard, simply mist the cage a bit. Not too much though, because bd's are desert lizards and they dont need much humidity in their environment. Also, too much water can lead to growths of mold, whose spores can be lethal for your lizard if inhaled for an extended amount of time.

Also make sure you provide a UV light as they can suffer from MBD which is metabolic bone diese which occurs when they do not recieve enough UVB which aids in digestion of vitamin d3 which is found in calcium ( its vital you dust your crickets with a calcium source once a week).

Keep in mind they can reach 18-24inch long and require a cage at least 4 feet long by 2 feet wide and 18- 24'' tall with lots of branches, hide boxes, and rocks.
