Are beagles really not that intelligent? I always took them for quite intelligent dogs but when ranked against other dogs, and on a list down to 80, they score in at 76.

Beagles are just really stubborn not stupid, that's why it's hard to train them.

A long time ago (well not long time ago probably like five years ago) I tried to help the local animal shelter and fostered a beagle/bluetick heeler pup and I had to give him back after like a month. I COULD NOT stand his bark! He had the typical beagle bark and it just annoyed the living crap out of me. I think beagles are nice dogs but I just can't take that bark. It was not just him it was any beagle that I heard bark I just cringed.

yes I think they are cute too, I wasn't trying to offend beagles or beagle lovers. Just stating that I don't think I could ever live with one agian. I love the expressions that they get though.

i have a beagle mix w/ a pekingese and i love him very much , btw, what type of dog food do you guys feed your beagle. right now i'm feeding him SCIENCE DIET and have about half a bag left until i read all the posts about how bad SCIENCE DIET can be. i'm thinking about switching to INNOVA since everyone says it is the best food for their dog. what do you guys think and recommend?

Definately get him switched off of science diet, thats about as low as it goes. I dont want to give you food advice, because I dont have all the information. Make a thread in the "dog food and recipes" part of the forum, I'm sure Mordy could help you out. She gives great advice.

We give her Eukanuba, been giving it for 2 years (thats how old she is), and will give to her untill the day she dies

anyone know how to tell how big my beagle will be?
right now i think shes petite. shes 14 lbs and is 10 inches at the shoulder, she just turned 7 months
i know my peke stopped growing by 6 months, is this the same for beagles since its a smaller breed?

You are right! I can't take that Beagle bark, but their faces are irresistable.
And I was also wondering if that was Belly. Very pretty dog, whoever it is!
