...recently has been going Number 2 in her pen and near pen. She does have to hold it during the day and usually does, and is eager to get outside when we hit home. This morning I walked her a long time, took her to the spots she normally likes for number 2, and she didn't go. We went inside, I got in shower and by the time I got out she had done it right beside pen. We only keep her in crate during hard winter months right now. Wondering if this is some type of acting out or if we need to move from crate as she gets older. Beagle dog.

I would start getting up a bit earlier, letting her get a quick pee, then giver her breakfast and then take her out to poop, and not come in until she goes for you.

i don't think it is acting out at all, i think her schedule has somehow gotten goofed up and she needs to get back on it. I would never feel comfortable going to work without knowing my dogs have pooped.

Today we closed off most of the house and let her be inside, to try out. We dog-proofed the area and are going to see what happens. She's generally very good when we're away for two-three-four hour stints, other than doing dog things like checking out trash, etc.
