How long does it take to bathe your dogs, and how do you do it? Do your dogs behave?

I bathe the Horsemen outside with the hose. I use a rubber horse curry brush to loosen the hair, and also to scrub in the shampoo (it's awesome for that!) The boys just stand there and give me pathetic looks while they're bathed. Then I rinse with the hose, towel dry. I also check their nails and such.

Total time: 5-10 minutes to groom both Horsemen. It takes me longer to assemble the towels and such than to actually bathe them. I love their short coats! They dry fast, too.

The BATH takes only minutes on a Beagle...slightly longer on Cleo since I use a conditioner/detangler rinse. The DRYING is where the real time is spent. I always dry my dogs...that takes about 45mins per Beagle and up to 1 1/2 hours for Cleo.

I bathe the Beagles on a grooming table...Cleo on the ground...I dry BOTH on a table. Cleo lays on a big low craft table right now...not sure if I will be buying a Leo sized grooming table...those are QUITE expensive!

Oh yuck, I know what you mean. We always did the blow dryer on our golden, and that took a good hour.

But my mom's maltese is the real kicker. I had to bathe her a few times while dogsitting. Yikes! Scandal has a full show coat, so she has to be completely brushed out first. Then bathed and conditioned. Then her face washed. Then brushed out again, blow dried and spray conditioned. And that coat takes for freaking-EVER to dry!! Then a foot trim, and the redo of the topknot.

I have no idea how a 7-pound dog could take 3 HOURS to groom properly! Thank heavens she's used to the whole process and loves the pampering. I can't imagine how long it would take to groom an uncooperative maltese!

bathing Baxter takes no time at all since he has a short coat. He doesn't like it all that much--but is tolerant! Trav is another story--her water repelling coat takes awhile to get soaked enough to wash. And while she looooooooves water, she hates a bath! Takes her awhile to dry off too----to bathe both takes about and hour (Baxter being about 10 mins and Trav taking the rest of the time!)

When I have the proper set up, like at my old job, it doesn't take that long. From start to finish, Sawyer takes about 20 minutes, Virgo about 10-15 depending on if I'm using a conditioner on her or not. That includes drying time. I love HydroSurge systems...

Here at home, it takes FOREVER. If I'm at my place and have to either use a bucket or turn on the shower, it takes about 20 minutes each just to get them wet enough to work the soap into them and then a couple hours for drying. If we're at Smkie's and can use either her hose or shower sprayer, then it's about 10 to get wet, 5 to shampoo, another 10 to rinse and then it depends on the season for drying times.

One of these days I'm going to get smart and just bring a bottle of shampoo to the dog beach with me. :p Instant wet, instant rinse...they're dry by the time we get back up to the car.

Unless it's extremely warm outside (like July and August) Phoebe and Orson get bathed in our tub.

They are both really good about it, they jump in and wait. We have a shower massage thingy and that really helps out being able to grab it and wash them. It normally only takes about 5-10 per dog to wash, condition, and towel dry. Woot for non hairy dogs! LOL

I put Tavish in the bathtub and run warm water while he's in it. When he was smaller he would try and jump out but never could make it over the side, now he can lol. It takes about 15-20 mins to bathe him

Ella takes about...40 minutes or so for the whole thing. I don't dry her, but I have to let her shampoo sit on her for at least 15 minutes due to her skin.
It takes me...well, I'd actually say 30-40 minutes. Ella is behaved in the bath, but she likes to sneak slowly up to the back of the tub so that I have a hard time reaching her with the shower head. But she's very, very slow and sneaky about it.

When we can, we go to a local pet store that has elevated tubs and bathe the dogs there. It's much easier on our backs and we are able to contain the dogs much easily. I don't ever bathe them outside unless I absolutely have to (like when they all had ringworm, we threw them in the pool). The water is too cold and it makes it an uncomfortable event for all of us. Spoiled pooches get the bathtub or luxury spa treatments at the pet store. :p

Hmm. Just gave Banzai a bath last weekend and it took about 30 minutes. He absolutey hated it. He hates to be confined to any type of space, but he really needed a bath.

Buddy loves his baths now and will even let me dry him with their air blower thingy. I rub him down and use an oatmeal shampoo to help soothe his skin. I use all of our time wisely with him, so it's usually about 30 minutes, but it's not necessary.

I can't remember the last time we bathed Bella. Ohh, yeah, I can, it was when they all had ringworm. She didn't like it much though she does dry off in about 30 seconds, fila coats ROCK. So, her baths are always about two minute- and that benefits everyone. :p

I usually bath Flicka and Pepe about every month, but every 3 months they both go to the groomer, so they do a really good bathe there.

I usually try to use the stuff at work to bathe them - it goes SO much faster! About an hour for Flicka (including drying), and a half hour for Pepe (including drying)

In the summer we have a blast with the hose. I strip down to shorts and tank top usually, and rinsing off the soapy porch takes the longest.

In the winter it's in my bath tub. Takes 30-40 minutes. He's very cooperative as I haven't given him any other way to behave. ;) He also hops right into the tub willingly now, I was so shocked the first time he did it.

Probably 20 minutes for Mr. Auggie? It doesn't feel like it takes that long but that's probably accurate. He gets in the mud sink and I have an attachment for the faucet. Sometimes he goes in the shower with me and I lather him up there, but it's hard to get him rinsed off in there... it takes FOREVER. I use a Zoom Groom to lather up, it works really nice.
He stands there looking pathetic, but he knows that after the bath we wrestle through the towel... so as soon as we're done he starts getting all fired up.

If it's warm outside he gets a bath outdoors with the garden hose and dries off out there... otherwise, I dry him as much as I can with towels, then use a hair dryer until he's mostly dry. That's maybe another 20 minutes or so. I can't dry him off to 100% on my own, it would just take forever. X3 I don't have the patience for it, and neither does he.

The little bit of trimming I do and nails is a separate ordeal.

For Brutus.. he loves warm water... so in the summer he would rather i just fill a kiddie/puppy pool and let it warm up in the sun to wash him, but he really does love the tub... he sits and looks pitiful... but he really does enjoy it. It takes maybe 20 minutes, i have to get in with him because our shower is small and he likes to shake too much if there's too much room... but otherwise, he does wonderful. I use this little rubber studded glove has short studs on one side and longer big ones on the other, he loves his neck scrubbed... and the toweling off, that is his favorite...

5 minutes, max. When it is warm out, I bathe her in the horse wash stall at work. We have hot water, and a nice hose end with a variety of sprays. Wet, scrub with a curry (Gemp is right - best tool ever for short coated dogs) and rinse. Let her run around like a maniac for a minute shaking off, and then rub with a towel briefly.

In the winter, she gets bathed very rarely, but I just make her get in the shower with me.

Too long!

I go to a self serve dog wash, with elevated tubs. It's a lot easier this way, plus I don't have to clean up the mess ;). Malakai and Chloe do fine...but you would think I was torturing Freckles the way she shivers and tucks her tail .

I bathe all of them inside in the bath tub. I use a Zoom Groom on Morgan and Dance and one of those grooming gloves on the Dobes to loosen the hair and rub the shampoo in better. They're all pretty good in the bath and just stand there looking like I'm torturing them. Well, except Dance - she loves bath time! Dance is the easiest to bathe as she turns around on command, sits if I ask her to, stands when asked, etc.

It takes about 10mins to bathe the Dobes, and 20mins to bathe Morgan and Dance. Then I dry Morgan and the Dobes for about 20mins with a towel, and take Dance to be blow dried and brushed out properly, which takes about 45mins. Sometimes I blow dry Morgan too, which takes 45mins also.

HA! Kharma's working lines gave her one of those ultra water repellent coats. It takes 15 minutes AT LEAST just to get her wet enough to shampoo

Bimmer's coat is worse. He's got a pelt like a freaking otter.

Oh, and neither one of them has any great love for being bathed. They'll go frolic around in icy cold, mucky water, but if there's clean water and soap involved? NUHHH-UHHHH!

Oh, and I have to physically pick them both up and put them in . . .

Not much time at all. I do them all in my bathtub and use my detachable shower head to spray them. It makes it pretty easy. The boys are much more cooperative than Luce. I have to tie her to the safety bar. Greased pig wrestling anyone?
