Seems a daft question but do all dogs bark? Misha has not barked in the 6-7 weeks we've had her (except a little half bark in her sleep). I'm just wondering if she will gradually start finding her voice or will remain a quiet girl.

Addie never barked. She's half husky, and someone told me they aren't big barkers. Like, she doesn't bark if people come or anything...or if we come home. She does have a barking spell once in awhile, but that means there are deer outside or another dog.....never people. That's why when I hear Ham bark, I look. He's more into the 'watch dog' thingy.

Jillian isn't a barker - she's almost 2 now and does let out a bark or two if someone goes by our house at night, or if anyone is loitering, LOL. Aside from that, she just isn't a barker and I'm not complaining.

My dog only barks at me if she doesn't like what I've told her. But as far as encountering other dogs while on walks, people walking by our house, even every single dog in the neighborhood barking their heads off, she won't bark. She's totally oblivious.

But if I tell her not to do something and she doesn't agree with me, she'll give me a "talking to."

Chili, our Chihuahua, hardly barked at all when she was younger which I think is rather unusual for her breed. She still doesn't bark a whole lot, only if she thinks she sees or hears something out of the ordinary.

Misha may be something totally aberrant - a quiet Terrier! She may be one of those dogs that doesn't noise about things; just goes quietly and sneaks up on problems. I've had several dogs like that - they're terribly effective as watchdogs. There's nothing any more frightening than knowing there is a largish dog around but not knowing where it is!
