Teach him not to bark at night? hahahhahaha

From my experience, dogs don't bark at nothing. Your beagle is hearing other dogs barking or something so he's not the only one at fault. Your ONLY means of curing this is crating him at night or attempting to tire him out so that he'll sleep all night (you have little chance of doing this). Be patient, though, as he may quiet down as he gets older.

Have you considered finding him another home? If you can't tend to your pet every day, it's not a good time to own a pet.

Can you bring him to live with you? I too think the dog needs a better home. Being outside in a dog box all day everyday? No wonder why he is barking. And the comment about your dad about to kill him is not very reasuring.

Who was the dog for? If it is your dad's pet he needs to take care of it...if it is yours, it should live with you so that you can take care of it EVERYday. Dogs need attention everyday not just on the weekends. They are a full time job. They make awesome family members, but thats what they should be. Not just a friend you can play with when you feel like it.

If you love dogs, but do not have the time or place to keep one of your own, maybe you could volunteer at an animal shelter. I know at PetSmart they have people there on Saturdays holding the dogs and stuff while they get adopted, and there are people of every age helping out.

Crating doesent always work or work right away. Tucker is crated at night and he barks nonstop all night because he wants out and wants to be with us. Hopefully soon he will get used to his crate.

I agree about bringing the pup inside during the evenings, it sounds like he may be bored and looking for some attention. I have a 6 month old beagle and can't imagine him being outside at night. I hope your mom reconsiders and you may be able to keep him inside.

I hope that continues to work for you, but unfortunately I have a feeling it is a temporary fix. (I hope I am wrong though.)

If you have some pictures of your Bailey I would like to see them, here are a few more recent pictures of Bailey, as my sig. is from when he was only a couple months old.
