Bella, our almost 5 month old shepard/rottie mix is now barking at us in our ear (yea she puts her head up and tries to get the closest to our ears) and then this play biting thing.. She will make a panting noise and then put her mouth around our arms or hands.. We take her for long walks, throw the ball around, feed her, training time, and nothing seems to work.. She will still have this annoying bark in our ear.. I'm actually at a point sometimes that "water torture" would prolly be more relaxing then the barking..

Any suggestions?

Does she get QUALITY time, you said she got walks, training and play time but is there any REAL quality time that you just sit and give her a massage or groom her or just sit on the couch and watch T.V together? She is wanting attention and you CAN ignore it but she is seeking attention and its the quality time she wants. What kind of trainining do you do?

Thats all I can think of for now just try spending some quality time with her and also excerise her more she is 4mo getting out of that sleep all day puppy stage and she needs more stymulation and excerise.

You need training class. Right away. You have a smart energetic puppy who needs something to do with her time and her brain.

Find a class and get busy.

You dont HAVE to go to a class, you can learn here and find info on the internet, some of classes dont always help, you really have to find a good one and meet the traniner and make sure he or she uses posative training meathods and that they can help you and not just train you and your dog as a group, really get into your problem and try to fix it.

I dont know exactually what is going on, if you answer my questions it might just be a simple problem, I dont know yet.

I STRONGLY agree with Red. Enroll in some good classes so that you and your puppy can learn together. Puppy classes are such a valuable resource and are only available to PUPPIES so I'd sign up quick. If you need help finding a good school in your area, send me your location by PM and I'll send you some screened options.:)

I agree with Dr2little who agrees with Red. LOL. Training classes, if they're with a good, reputable trainer who uses gentle methods are not only great fun for owner and dog, but a great way to socialize your pup. Your pup will get a taste of working in distractions of other people and pups. There's something about "class" which often makes pups "buckle down and get to work." LOL. You'll get good tips and lots of problem solving. As your pup grows, one problem may be "cured" while another one pops up. LOL. It's great to have someone who knows what they're doing observe and get to know your dog and you....they get to see how the two of you interact and can ward off potential behavior problems before they get started. That is always the best way...to intercept problems BEFORE they develop in the first place.

So, yes...you can get tips here but to have the optimum success, find a GOOD group puppy class. You'll have a blast too!
