My partner and I adopted a mini dachshund three months ago (he is six and really quite great). At first, he didn't bark at all (adjusting etc.) but as soon as he became familiar with our house and us, he started barking. Now it isn't bad, and it isn't all the time, it mostly happens when someone knocks at the door, comes in the door when he doesn't expect it, and when he sees other dogs near his house (walking by). I have read other posts sort of similar that suggested that he is protecting his people and house which seems accurate. However, it can be annoying at times, and is certainly a behavior I would like to stop. Any advice? Thanks.
