Bagel's been acting weird lately. She's been snapping at Rocket a lot (like whenever he comes near her, she'll growl, and if he gets too close, she'll snap at him, almost biting him). She usually gets defensive whenever she has a treat around or something, but she'll just growl at him for being too close. She also doesn't seem to be wanting to move much, I tried offering her treats and she doesn't bother moving. She'll take them if I give them to her, but she'll eat them very slowly.

I also did notice that yesterday, her breathing was real quick, short bursts. And when I was petting her, a big hunk of fur just came off (I pulled at it very gently). She has been shedding around this time, but this scared me.

I don't know if she ate yesterday or not, since I was not home and my parents aren't too observant about it. I'll be taking her to the vet today, but I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it. Thanks.

Sigh... the vets didn't really have a clue as to why Bagel was sick. They just knew she had a fever, but Bagel had symptoms that differ from having a fever. They said she's really acting disorented (which I agree, she barely opens her eyes) and that she may have a spine problem. I don't remember the exact name of it, but they said she seemed like she was in pain (her neck area). They said they were going take a blood sample, as well as treatment for neck pain, kennel cough (just because she can get it there), and the such.

First time I let a pet stay overnight somewhere else. Rocket is gonna be lonely tonight, and I will be too.

I really wish this was a simple case, but it sucks to know your dog isn't feeling well and you can't do anything about it.

Just got Bagel from the vet, she's much more active than before, but still snapping at Rocket. I feel bad, because Rocket is happy that she is back, but whenever he goes near her, she snaps at him. I have to give her some pills, and probably go back for a checkup next week.

I still wonder what caused her to be sick in the first place.

Doesn't look like she's been getting any better, her eyelids just swelled up real big. She can barely open her eyes. I'm very worried about her.

Sigh, just took her to the emergency vet, she has a 104.5 fever, and has to stay overnight again. Her bills are adding over $1000, within one week, and I don't know how much more we can do. But I don't want to just give up on her.

I know how hard it is to feel so helpless at this time. Just know that it will get better and just wait patiently for that day. When you are in the midst of worrying about such an important family member it is hard to think about anything else....I totally know where you are coming from and have spent so much time in the emergency with my dogs and it breaks my heart. Sounds like your dog is battling some type of infection. I hope it is not serious and I hope they can treat it. I am so sorry you and your pooch have to experience this. :(
