I had to take Little Snack to the vets yesterday morning to draw some blood for her pre-spay testing, so I brought Tosca along for the ride and wait.
So Tosca and I are sitting in the waiting room with a few others and their pets chatting. There's this one lady with this sweet beautiful Golden and another woman with a wonderful GSD. All three of us have our dogs down, when in walks a woman with a flourish, wearing an "Arrogant" sign on her forehead, two lovely standard poodles on leashes with her. One black and one white, of course. For some odd reason she pranced them all past our dogs like a runway thing and then turned around and went to the other end and sat. So we told her how nice looking her dogs were (they were). So what does she do? She brings one to Center Front and starts putting this dog thru his obedience paces and of course our conversations came to a halt. It was like Who Gives A Chit that your dog can sit lady? Why don't you just make him sit over there and put your butt in a chair like the rest of us? Anyways, the amusing part was this dog barely listened to her. It took him ten seconds to follow a simple command and most of them had to be spoken twice. I'm thinking to myself why on earth would anyone put on a show to begin with in the vet's office, much less a bad show? In the meantime, the dog is being plied with treats most of us would not have given him for his poor responses. And the rest of us were forced into a bad show we didn't buy a ticket for.
Why on earth do people do things like this? I mean I know she was proud of her dogs but to be honest they weren't any better looking to me than the other two dogs there and they were considerably less obedient. Neither of them would stay in any position, and here she was forcing a show upon us while our dogs were lying there in Stay like they were three pucks or something. The poor shepherd, who NEVER moved from his spot was doing a low growl and I found myself wishing he would get up. We had all we could do not to laugh at this complete A hole who decided to give us a bad show just because we told her that her dogs were nice. By the time she was done with her faux superior 'tude, we hated her and her dogs.
