Howdy!!! Do hope this e-note finds all Chazhoundians in good health!!! Despite being a productive venture in Brazil for all parties concerned, it was, at the same time, quite heart wrenching to attend to the children living in the inner-city slums (favelas) and orphanages. Far too many of these kids lives are abbreviated secondary to gang related violence, drugs, and health issues (esp. AIDS)---it's ever so unfortunate.

Now it's back to my usual routine, though with both San Antonio and Houston Stock Show & Rodeo rapidly approaching, of which I'm actively involved, my schedule shall be rather hectic for a bit (no pun intended).

Until later, Adios Amigas y Amigos!!!

Welcome back Gigs! It's a great thing you're doing. Helping out those kids probably makes a big difference in their lives.

It sounds like the stock show is going to be awesome. I've always wanted to go to one of the "Big City" events; maybe next year.

Be sure to take a time-out for a beer, and spend a little quality time with your dogs. I'm sure they missed you.

Has this icy mess in Texas affected your ranching business in any way? I know that several of the local auctions in our area were closed because of the weather, and I heard that some ranchers were having difficulty feeding their livestock.

Howdy Gempress!!!

Howdy Gempress!!! We certainly hope our efforts shall continue helping those kids following our departure. Fortunately, the Brazilian government is expanding its healthcare to the impoverished with the use of on-site or travelling Nurse Practitioners from their own country.

Attending and working on the commitees (primarily livestock) for both San Antonio & Houston is a tradition in our family, especially the former city dating back to 1854. But I must admit, the county stock shows and rodeo remain at the forefront of my efforts, even more so, as the larger events are becoming tainted with "newbies" who's only interest is the spotlight being on them. A vast majority of the new commitee members have absolutely NO knowledge or interest in Agribusiness----- !!!

As discussed with my ranch foreman, the sale barns were closed during the ice storm, but at this time of year, sales are somewhat sluggish anyway. The cattle remained oblivious to what transpired---they had plenty of food, water, and were protected from the bisk winds. But we're loving every bit of rain being drenched upon us; do believe it'll be a very productive spring. Do hope your household remained unscathed during the storm.

Within an hour of landing at San Antonio International Airport, yours truly was enjoying a H-U-G-E chicken fried steak (gravy on the side), venison chili, large crisp dinner fries, and ice cold Pearl Light Beer (stop laughing about my beer brand Gem).

Until later, Adios Amiga!!!
