I disappeared for awhile because life always gets in the way. I wish I kept up with this forum more!!

Is it crazy to consider another dog? I'm in a perfect position right now where I'm only working evenings and still have a day or two off a week. And in the evenings there is usually someone else around. I would have plenty of time to devote to another dog.

The reason I'm even considering is I started doing research to help a friend who wanted to adopt a puppy. I suddenly found myself doing intense reading on the horrible shelters down south that don't treat dogs the way they should, and many still use gassing chambers to euthanize dogs.

There are some great organizations that rescue from these situations, and I see so many wonderful dogs that need a home.

Do you think I should go for it?! I saw some great pitties/pittie mixes but I'm wondering if that would be good for Oliver. Some of them are fostered with small dogs/cats, but this is still something I'm carefully considering. Talk me into/out of it, please! :D

Ah well if you are in the right situation and will be able to provide finantually and emotionally to another dog then I say go for it. And with a pit I would meet the dog, maybe have a met up session in a nuteral area with oliver and see how they get along. There are Pibbles out there who are not DA, but I would suggest going for an older pit who temperment and personality is already astablished, but even then its still not a quarentee that the pit wont end up DA.

Is your situation likely to change/is there a chance of it changing suddenly, so that you can't manage an extra dog?

But..for the convincing part..my dog Junior came to the rescue that I adopted him from from a shelter that used gas chambers to euthanize dogs, down in GA. He was so scared of everybody at first, but as he conquers different fears everyday, and when I see him smile, it makes me feel so amazing that he did not become just another dead, homeless dog.
