This isn't a very common breed? I have never heard of it... On the Vizsla website, it shows one with a smooth coat and one with a wire coat, which one is standard??

They are actually two seperate breeds so each has it own standard. The WHV started to break away in the 20's and then was furter developed as a sepperate breed in the 30's. In 1966 the breed was recoginsed by the FCI. In the US WHVs are not recognised by the AKC but in most countries they are recognised by the major regisrties. We only have about 200 Wirehaired Vizsla in the US.
