Oooh kelpie baby! I have always wanted to hear about someone's first hand experience with them. Please stick around as she grows and tell us all about her :D

What appealed to you about kelpies over other herding breeds? If you don't mind me asking :)

Bria, your auntie Hayley loves you! You'll show Bo Bo how herding is done!!
Bria loves her aunty Hayley too! She is going to come and see you in September sometime, and she wants you to come watch her in stock dog or maybe we could go in a clinic together you could bring Emme!

I don't mind you asking at all :) There are multiple reasons I wanted a Kelpie I will keep it short as I am going to write a thread on working Kelpies and why I chose a Kelpie over every other breed. So reasons being
- I love the agility of these dogs they are quick and light on their feet.
- Work ethic (which does also come from the blood lines but..) they LOVE LOVE LOVE their job, I couldn't imagine seeing them do anything else, they live to work, and i love that they do it not just to please you but because they love it more than anything else.
- How smart they are (this can be a love hate sometimes but is worth it in the end after training)
- Their personality they have a sense of humour for sure, and i love how one min they can be your best friend riding on the quad with you, and seconds later you can call them onto a cow and they are off that quad and bringing in that cow for you, and then back on the quad hanging out with you, they don't fixate on things which allows them to also be a part of the family.
-They also have very very VERY little health problems, because how how unpopular they are, and how there are very few "backyard" breeders
- They are able to withstand hot and cold, it gets HOT, and it can sure get cold.
- My boyfriend also has a male and I fell in love with the breed after meeting
Bo.
- They also aren't so "high strung", yes they have a large amount of energy and should not be a city dog or house dog but they dont need to be doing something at all times.

In general the breed works well with my personality, training, and purpose. This wasn't exactly "short" but it was the best I could do, and I don't want to bash any other breeds, I love working dogs in general but the Kelpie is the perfect dog for me. Maybe one day I will get a heeler though they would make a good combo working together.
