My Mom and I were busy working on baby stuff all day. Well okay I told her how I wanted it and cut things out and she sewed it. My sewing skills are not great. Got the skirt for around the bottom of the baby bed made, two of the bumpers made and the blanket for the bed made. Since the baby has to be in my room, I wanted to make sure that the bedding would look okay in my room. So everything for this baby's bed is custom made by grandma.
The blanket for the baby's bed started out as just a simple burgundy fleece blanket. Yeah right, like it was going to stay simple. My room is decorated mainly in dragons(with a few fairies and wizards thrown in). I wanted a blanket with dragons on it so bad, but they don't seem to make them, except on some specialty websites that are way to expensive. So I drew a dragon silhouette on paper and cut it out to make a pattern, then we put it on the same material we made the bumpers and the skirt out of and mom sewed it to the blanket. Then she edged the blanket in the same material.
Here a few pics of the baby blanket born of my inspiration and my Mom's patience, hard work, and incredible ablitiy to turn my sewing dreams into reality.
The material was a bit hard to work with when cutting out the dragon, but I think it came out pretty dang good.
The last pic shows the true colors of the blanket the best. For some reason the others came out a little dark.
