Lea:

You are not messing anything up. We are all here to learn and share, you are welcome in any thread. No worries at all, we all get sensitive sometimes, we all get to tired to think too. I am at that point right now but I had to post to you just so you know that you are not confusing anyone and if you are oh well. That is how we learn! Please do not leave a thread for that reason, you are as welcome as anyone to post.

Oh and like Melissa said you crack me up too! :D

Agree with anyone else that anyone who says whites are an acceptable color is ruining the breed. It only takes convincing one person. It is sad that so many people wnat to ruin this breed but thankfully there are good people who stand up for it. I feel bad for those suckered into buying them but they should have researched it first.

Any breed that has genetic defects should be spayed or neutered. Why breed anything but the beautiful dobes within the standard. Rescue if great !

Who's arguing? Looks to me like everyone is agreeing... Sure it's a touchy subject, especially with Dobe enthusiasts but one that needs to be discussed from time to time so others can learn.

Only the people who are saying that people just want to fight are the ones who want to fight. ROFLOL!!!!

White Dobermans should not be bred. Period. There....I said it. LOL.

Albino dobermans is a powerful subject, because the the doberman lovers, that love the breed for what it is. Breeding an albino doberman (genetic flaw) intentionally, is like throwing mud in the face of the integrity of the breed as well as those who love it. The only point for it is money and I remain to be convinced otherwise. As there are a majority of albino dobermans out there with health problems, enough to tell anyone that they shouldn't be bred. So the only reason for anyone to continue breeding them, is financial gain off of what they advertise as a "novelty".

It's a shame.

I once had a lady tell me she was charging extra $$ for her White Dobermans because they were "Special" and "Rare" ...aarrghhh, and guess what they all sold. There is a sucker born everyday.

I have nothing against somebody rescuing and raising a White Doberman all animals deserve to be loved and given a fair chance to live a long happy life.

The breeders usually fall into 2 types IMHO

1- The people that know it is wrong but breed for the almighty dollar - This type of person is the worse kind in my book.

2- The BYB that does not know anything about the breed or very little, they do no research or health testing and usually sell in the local newspapers. - This type of person is guilty of being lazy and uneducated about Dobermans, in most cases you can show this person the facts and they will never breed whites again.

Either way both of the above examples are doing nothing but hurting our breed. :(

no she isnt the breeder of Phantoms Prince William hehehehe... so kim please dont speculate.. heheh

ill repeat this here, since i dont know where the convo is going :)

the author of that website is the breeder of whitedobelovr's doberman, prince william (the phantom line is her albino line).

i ask this simple question -
what proof - scientific proof - from a reputable institution, lab, or in a peer reviewed journal, has shown that albino dobermans are in fact, not albino. i have asked before to see one ounce of proof - primary source proof. i have never received any.

i have nothing against the dogs already in existence - they should be loved and treated well - i just disagree with breeding them.

if you want an albino doberman, rescue one. they are all over rescue.

as lexus has said if you have the money to do the genome tests out there and you findout your white is an albino you should never bred it because yes genetics does play a huge role in dogs and humans... well any animal however if you do your testing and all goes well and everything comes back negative for the albino gene it is simply like your blue and fawn... as poor Prince has seen He was solid white and now he is so friggin dark some people confuse him for a fawn. Unfortunately... some peole dont know the difference between white, fawn, and albino... It is simply a color... however... if you talk to many of those people supposedly loving the breed they would breed only for black and tans... because technically speaking here.... red, blue, fawn and white are all genetic defaults. I was going to get a test from vet gen for Tas for color and I was speaking to one of the ladies who has sent me some info on the differences in dobermans and EVEN the red dobe is a dilution which is sad... I have spoken to many breeders this week who have talked to me abut prince and they requested to see him and all have and they are amazed at how dark he is... and all have agreed and said... to be albino you would LACK ALL pigment.... have red pupils and so on with the albinist traits. Though some of the people would love to get me into an arguement over this so they can try to get me to leave It wont happen...

Anyway... if you want real info DPCA isnt where you want to go... you should stop call any university around you and ask them for their albino genome research reports to understand how they work....DPCA unfortunately ran its test over a half a century ago and are there for OUTDATED! Fortunately many other of us people and Doberman Clubs have done more research and have found things out about genomes that DPCA hasnt because they refuse to do another set of testing and statistical research to determine actually what is with Whites/Cream/ or so on.... When DPCA wants to pay for another bout of testing then i will think about things to believe other than Princes Genome report... Because His genome came back on the D locus where as any albino will show up on the C Locus...

There was evidence presented by another forum member somewhere else that all white Dobermans are albinos....that there is no such thing as white without having the albino gene. The other member was a biology student and presented a very well, spelled out, scientifically backed explanation from informational research from some well renouned universities. She may or may not come to this thread with her extensive and well written explanation.

But the main point is that these dogs do deserve love and can turn out fine. It's a fine thing to rescue and adopt them. It's just that statistically they have vastly more problems, health and temperament wise and should not be bred, as they are not of the established and accepted colors. These temperament and health problems can be traced back through the small gene pool from where they are derived. They should not be perpetuated and breeders who breed them are not only not reputable, but scandalous.

Lea, you're being too senstive... Zoom said she was using the "generic" you... she wasn't talking specifically to you.

Along the lines of what you were saying Zoom, if people want an dobe that's an unusual color, I don't see why they can't just get a blue or fawn colored dobe. You don't see those everyday.
or if you insist on getting an albino, adopt one of the MANY already in rescue! :)

there are tons of dogs of EVERY COLOR, shape, size, sex, you name it- all in rescue, and all in need of great homes

yup, just try not to be so sensitive - none of us meant YOU, we were just talking about "general you" because we need to use a pronoun in there for SOMETHING! i agree though, its hard on the computer to understand what people mean (and im sorry you thought i was jumping on you, i ddint use smilie faces and stuff!)

whitedobeluvr has one. i know some others that have albinos as well, including the only person who has ever put advanced titles on an albino (her albino is a rescue).

i dont see ANYONE trying to fight so far (up to your post) in this thread - that is how far i have read so far - and even so, people can disagree with each other and have different opinions without being crude, disrespectful, and rude.

im sorry for the assumption - but he bears her kennel name (phantom), so it is normally safe to assume if the dog bears someone's kennel name, they (at least co-)bred the litter. did his breeder not want her kennel name on him?
