Australian Kelpie?

Howdy Summitview!!! I've got two cream colored Australian Kelpies (Milam & Sequin) that are truly amazing dogs. They never cease to amaze me with their intelligence, athleticism, endurance, and devotion. Mine work cattle on a frequent basis and are particularly useful in the pens and alleys, as they work atop the cattle jumping from one back to another to herd them. Kelpies require a great deal of exercise to keep them out of mischief, in my case, they'll dig and dig and dig....!!! I hope this answers some of your questions.
Kelpies are my favourite breed. I have a 5mth old blue and tan male named Jasper. We got him just as a pet, but he definately shows the herding instinct - he herds all our chickens and ducks into the hen house every night.
As far as working dogs go, they are a very popular dog in Australia, working both sheep and cattle equally well. My grandparents use them for working dairy cattle, as they can be taught not to bite and can be very quiet workers. My boyfriend uses kelpies for beef cattle, as his dogs will bite when the need arises.
They are very intelligent dogs with an ingrained instinct to herd moving things. I've seen breeders take 10 week old pups with their parents to work sheep, and the pups will crouch and give 'the eye' to the sheep, even though they've never seen the animals before.

if your looking into goats. i'd look into mareema's. my family wanst to get goats, next year some time. we'll also get 2 mareema's and perhaps breed them if all health checks and stuff work out. (that was a short conversation we had 1 day, don't make this about breeding) mareema's are natural protectors of the flock.
but kelpies are awesome. i definatley want some. maybe 2 or three and put them in hearding trials, agility, flyball and advanced obediance

This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but I'm actually not sure! When I met him I was doing a study abroad program in Broome, WA. He was living there alone at the time. We dated for the 6 weeks of the program, and then I went back to the States, and he moved back home to Perth. A couple of months apart and we realized that as crazy as it seemed, we wanted to be exclusive...so we have an absurd long-distance relationship that's been going strong for nearly a year. One in which I've never met (only heard), about his family, LOL.
Hence why I'm not sure what color they are.
Good news is he's coming to the states in 3 weeks for a long holiday!

Sounds like a grand relationship!!! My fiancee' have been engaged for twenty years, though by state statutes, we're considered married (common law). During this period we've never had one conflict between us---why mess up a good thing!!! Here's wishing the best for you and your beaux!!! Perhaps he'll bring a Kelpie puppy to you as a gift!!!
